Sounds like the solenoid or the relay that locks the lever into park when the key is turned off may be playing up just to check try using the spare key see if you get the same problem hope this helps regards mick

How do you replace the shift solenoidon a 2002 volvo s80 t6

actually, it's starting out in hi gear. The sensor is inside the trans housing, so it's a lot of work to lower the sub frame with engine and trans attached. An EODB that reads and resets the TCM will allow you to drive it. Just don't shift to "D", and it will run fine; you just won't have overdrive (so your mpg will suffer).

CANT GET SHIFTER OUT OF PARK SOMETIMES IT WILL WORK 1999 VOLVO S80

Hi theres a switch on the brake pedal & a solenoid on the gear shift to stop you moving whilst the car is put into drive if the switch is not working correctly it won't release the solinoid to release the gear shift or the soinoid is faulty or your not pressing the brake down hard enough hope this helps

1999 Volvo S80 T6, Starts blower on its own.

If you are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine cools down and the thermostat switches it off.

I have a 2000 s80 volvo transmission shifts fine but in park or nueteral it makes a rumbling noise goes away when put into gear. it did make a jolt and bang when i pulled out from the intersection thanks...

when you are sitting idle and you press the clutch without putting it into gear does the noise go? if so you will need to fit a new clutch kit.

Gear shift stays stuck in park sometimes for about 10 to 20 minutes.. why is that?

Hard to say without performing a diagnosis, but I have seen the shift lock solenoids fail. Make sure the brake lights are working, the signal used for the brake lights are also used for the shift lock.

Can not get gear shifter to move from parking

sounds like a problem with the shift interlock solonoid, lack of power to it, or it went bad. also check the brake switch as it sends power to the shift interlock when u depress the pedal

1999 Volvo S80 stuck in park

see my friend easy fix,the problem you are having is a wire problem that locks or unlocks the shifter from the park potition and also unlocks the key from the ignition switch is just getting stuck inside the ignition switch, so more likely needs lubrication you can do it yourself or have a machanic do it
for you, maybe replace it with a new one( wich i dont think is nesesary) take it out clean it, put new grease and it should be good to go, good luck. This wire is conected to the ignition switch, on the right side and can be pulled out with your hand.
