Driving on highway and car stopped running. will turn over but not start. have high mileage over 100,000. when aaa picked it up he thought it was the timing belt. 2.2 engine 4 cylinder. Had no problems before this. Is it a belt or a chain for the timing?
You didn't say wether it was a belt or chain. when the mechanic did some testing he said the 2 cylinders had compression and 2 didn't. do you have to remove the engine in order to get to the timing belt? You didn't say wether it was a belt or chain. when the mechanic did some testing he said the 2 cylinders had compression and 2 didn't. do you have to remove the engine in order to get to the timing belt?

Pros: Best value for money in its segment, spacious , excellent leg room for rear seats, reasonably well ground clearance, good mileage, interiors and features one of the best in class, superior build quality, Cheaper by around 2 L when compared to creta or duster...
Cons: Initial pick up less in city.
2017 Maruti S-cross is very good SUV or properly a crossover, black interiors looks excellent, in city feels little lethargic below 1500 rpm but on highway its fun to drive , can easily reach 140 kmph, mileage expect around 14 to15 kmpl in city and around 17 to18 kmpl , suspension bit hard probably for better highway ride, overall good car better than sedans like city or ciaz as you get feel of SUV with good ground clearance to tackle various Indian road conditons and high sitting position is awesome to drive
Path finders are pretty good vehicles. If the drive train has been taken care of, it can last up 300,000 miles. At 100,000 miles, there will be some oil leaks. It shouldn't be puddling on the ground though. (walk away) All cars though, at 100,000 to 130,000 will start needing suspension parts, IE... tie rods, ball joints, struts, ect... It's just about that tie for the mileage that they start wearing out. Not all at once though.
Sounds like your coolant level might be low. At highway speed you probably have enough coolant and with the air passing thru the radiator keeps the temp down, but at idle not so much. Or depending whether you have a belt drive or electric fan. Belt driven, could need a new belt.
Driving habits are the main reason for bad mileage including: excessive idling, fast starts and stops, fast driving in general...best speeds are 50 to 60 MPH for economy, city driving uses most gas, Mechanical problems include underinflated tires, leaving windows open at highway speeds, not keeping engine tuned up, not changing lubricants at proper intervals, not greasing wheel bearings, not aligning and balancing tires..etc
The best way to improve gas mileage is to change your driving habits. K&N filters claim they can increase mileage, but there really is not 'miracle device' that can do so. Make sure the vehicle is running well, plugs and wires are all in good shape, air and fuel filters are clean.
Stay on highways as much as possible, and drive around with a glass of water that has no lid and is filled pretty high. Attempt to drive without spilling the water. This will drastically improve economy.
The biggest fluctuation on fuel economy is caused by the driver... The listed MPG that they show is under lab conditions. If you want to increase your fuel economy drive the speed limit, dont over accelerate from stop light to stop light. You can also try replacing your stock air filter with an aftermarket such as K&N filter.
yes it is normal many customers complain about how the newer cars are not as responsive from a stop basically you have to hit the gas then the car goes seems to rev high to people with not a lot of movement becausse of this its because the newer cars are throttle by wire when you hit the gas it sends a electrical signal to the throttle to go instead of a few yyears back they were you hit the gas and the cable attached to gas pedal pulls back throtttle much more responsive hope this helps
