The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.
If you are taking the car to the garage or a mechanic, mark the oil filter before leaving home to make sure the filter is changed. After the oil has been changed when you return home you can check the filter to see if it was changed because the oil will only be changed. Since some mechanics know an owner of a vehicle will not check. Also, AutoZone have a very good quality oil for the chrysler town and country. Good Luck
You either have an oil pressure sending unit that is malfunctioning, or you have oil pressure problems with your engine. Proper diagnosis is required to find out which it is. If it is actually low oil pressure (not a defective sending unit), there may be engine damage/wear that will require engine overhaul to repair.
First off check the oil,if it's fairly low on oil then when the oil splashes away from the pickup tube the oil pressure would drop enough to kick on the oil light,if it's full and running ok then the oil sending unit is probably gonna need replaced.
