can you get it open at all? or can you get to it? it sounds like it's simply frozen. if you can get to it the simpliest thing would be to spray wd40 on the part that spreads. you'll need to give it a minute then spray it again to make sure it gets in good. now, if you can open it, do so, the spray it with the wd40, wipe if down some, work the mechanism then spray again. this should loosen and help it work . unless you've been hit and the thing was jammed somehow it should do the job. good luck & God bless,

Sounds like you may have a worn ignition lock cylinder.It will cause the problems you are having.

To get the rear taillight assembly off, remove the two scews that are located under the black plastic covers when you open the rear hatch.
Pull out to the side on the front edge of the lens assembly. There are two pins located at the front of the light that just slide straight in. Remember to pull straight out the side not toward the rear of the vehicle.
