I'll go with the wheel cylinder. I've had it happen before, but not with my Durango.

You said you see brake fluid but do not indicate if rear of vehicle or rear wheel. If wheel sure it is probably wheel cylinder. If rear of vehicle could be a rotted brake line. This is a common occurrence on many vehicles especially if you live where it snows. Have some one looking under the vehicle while someone depresses the brake and verify where the leak is coming from and go from there.

Sounds like you have a leak in the drum brake wheel cylinder. They happen, and more often than you would expect.

You'll see in the pictures, one is the new part and the other shows where it is on your truck.

If the cylinder went bad, you'll see brake fluid leaking, even slightly, out of the rubber boot on either side of the cylinder.

SOURCE: 2000 dodge durango/rear window washer fluid

well, i don't know if it was much of a solution. I figured out there was only one resevoir for the front and rear washer fluid...located the hose going to the rear and disconnected it from the electric pump attaced to the resevoir. Once the hose was disconnected i activated the pump and the fluid shot out of the pump indicating it was working. So, i figured it must be some kinda blockage in the hose line...so, i pushed air through the line in hopes that it might work to clear it out...well, don't know if that was the trick but when i reconnected the hose it worked!

SOURCE: replace front brake pads on a 2003 dodge durango, after pumping

could be a bad master cylinder or a power booster the part that the master cylinder attatches to. also check whell cylinders to make sure they are not leaking.

SOURCE: 2001 dodge 2500 very little brake pedal. brake fluid disappears

You Must determine that Master Cylinder is NOT LEAKING into the Brake BOOSTER this is a Leak that CANNOT be Detected Easyly, If not Rear Brake SHOES Worn OUT Can CAUSE LOW Brake Pedal Problem

if bleeding the brakes doesn,t help then it is the vacuum buster pump which apples and holds pressure to the brake cylinders, check pad or brake shoe wear

Brake pedal to floor have replaced brake pads and master cylinder

Did the pedal go to the floor beforehand? Was the master cylinder leaking, and did you bleed it properly? If the master cylinder was not leaking, check your brake lines going to the rear wheels.

Brake pedal goes down to the floor to make it stop

check first the brake fluid reservoir to see if it is full, then bleed the brakes if the petal will not come up.

How to bleed brakes on a 1992 Chevy Caprice. Specifically the rear drums

start from the fartherest place from brake master cylinder, that will be the rear passenger side wheel. it takes two people to bleed brakes. you will find the bleeder valve screws at the top of inside of the rear drums on both rear wheels, have someone pump the brakes up, will take at least 4 pumps of brake pedal, at 4th pump keep pressure on pedal while you break loose the bleeder valve on the rear wheel, fluid will come out and brake pedal will go down to floor, keep pressure on brake pedal until you've tightened the bleeder screw back [note] you'll only have to back the bleeder valve out about a half turn until you see the fluid come out. after you've done the rear brakes add brake fluid to the master cylinder as it will be low. then go to the front passeger side and you will find the bleeder screw on the brake caliper. repeat the same proceedure as back. remember that pressure on the pedal is a must until you've tightened those bleeder valve screws back or else it will **** air into the brake system. suggest that you bleed all 4 wheels not just the back. after you've bled the front make sure you add more brake fluid back to the master cylinder, it will be low again. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

I am having a problem bleading my 2000 grand pris brakes. check all the brake line no leaks but when i bleed the brabe pedal coes to the floor. i have also bleeb frunt to rear and rear to frunt.

This is a two person job. You have one push the brake pedal to the floor and hold it there. Then the other opens the bleed valve until brake fluid comes out. Close the bleed valve and have the other person release the brake pedal. Repeat. Continue doing this on each brake bleed valve until there is no more air coming out of the lines at each bleed valve just a solid stream of fluid. Fill master reservoir back up with brake fluid as needed through the process. You bleed from farthest to closest meaning from rear to front.

2001.5 Dodge Ram Diesel 2500 4x4 Brake Pedal drops to floor

It sounds like you have a bad mastercylinder cause when you panic brake it doesn't have time to bleed through the valve in the cylinder but under normal braking your foot is on pedal longer in turn giving the fluid time to bypass the valve in the mastercylinder in turn the pedal going to the floor.

2000 silverado brake work good 90% of the time, but the odd time the pedal goes to the floor, and in the last second the abs kicks in. Then they work good again for a while. Could it be the booster, I...

may i suggest your problem is the brake master cylinder is faulty ie the line pressure is being lost due to fault on seal that is supposed to maintain brake pipes/line pressure when pedal is off resulting in brake pedal intermittantly going to floor but if you pump pedal it comes back ? the fact you mention you drained master cyl ? reservoir ?? and fluid was dirty ? assume you bled all brakes to flush b/system too ? the fluid being dirty is a clear indication that the seals on m/cyl pistons are deteriated and allowing fluid to pass seals and cause pedal to travel further SO best advice is to replace the master cyl as repair kits/seals are hard to come by these days then use new fluid and bleed all brakes/cyl's hope this helps ?

Brake pedal going to floor somtimes, could this be anything to do with rear brakes

I don't know about the rear brakes, but it is the brakes!!! You are out of fluid, might have a leak, get the reservoir filled up, and check all the wheels on the inside for brake fluid leaking. If the pedal has gone to the floor, you will need to bleed the system, Just get 2 people, one to loosen the bleeder on each wheel, and one to pump the pedal, Get a short hose and a can to catch the oil in. Loosen the bleeder screw, let the pedal go down, don't remove pressure till you tighten the screw back up, pump it up again, and do it till the pedal comes back to normal. Every wheel.
