Depends how you did the work? If you opened the bleeders to back off the pads you may have air in the lines, and need to bleed the system. Or you could be low on brake fluid. If neither one most likely the master cylinder has problems.

While trying to change my pads i noticed my rotors seem loose, also i cant get the brakes to stop grinding, squealing after reassembly.

Shane, rotors may seem loose until wheel is on car and torqued to specification, I recommend you take car in for your brakes to be inspected, estimate and repaired at a good shop. Arrange your appointment time so you can be there and watch how it is done and learn from it. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

My 2002 Toyota Avalon is shaking when I apply the brakes. I have replaced the front and rear brake pads and the front rotors with Raybestos ones. It still shakes. Could the rear rotors be warped?

That's what I would imagine. It is usually the front rotors that warp due to the fact that they work a little harder than the rears. However, rear rotors can warp. If you feel the shake more in the body of the car, so in the seat and you feel like the whole car is moving and the steering wheel stays mostly calm then I would imagine the rear rotors are warped. However if the shaking is felt mostly in the brake pedal and the steering wheel shakes too then it is probably your front rotors. Shops can usually resurface rotors and it may be cheaper than buying new, so that could be an option for you.

How do I remove the rotor from a 97 Toyota Avalon?

remmove the brake caliper and bracket and remove rotor. If the rotor is seized on the hub, loosely install two lugnuts(to keep the rotor from falling all the way off when you knock it loose) and hit the center portion of the rotor (part that the studs go through) with a hammer. Do not hit the part that contacts the brake pad. You might have to hit it hard so use a 2-3 lb hammer and don't be afraid to hit it just don't hit a stud or the rotor surface.

The brake light comes on but doesn't stay on. Is this because the fluid is low? How do I add brake fluid? How do I know how much to add? Is there a special kind to buy? 1997 Avalon

Use a Dot 3 conventional fluid and add to a clear plastic reservoir you will find under hood directlty in front of the steering wheel. There is a float inside which will detect low fluid and trip the indicator.Big concern is why is the brake fluid low in the first place? This will almost always mean wearing brake pad linings as the fluid will displace the missing lining thats worn off the pads. This probably is an indication that near future brake repairs are on the way which will include brake pad replacement. The other sitation you may enounter is once the pads are replaced, you will then be in an overfilled situation to where the fluid will have to be removed to have the correct amount. I would probably get a visual inspection on the brake lining wear then elect to add fluid at that time or replace brake pads.

97 rear pad and parking brake replace. Rotor is not fitting over parking brake to allow reassembly. Adjuster is reduced to smallest extension. Why is it not fitting?

PARK BRAKE NEEDS TO ADJUSTED OR MORE PRECISLY BACKED OFF.BECAUSE AS THE BRAKE WEARS SO ADJUSTER EXPANDS ALSO THE KNOB ON THE LEVER IN THECABMUST BE UNSCREWED AND THE CABLEPULLED TO WARDS THE REAR OF VEHICLE

Brake light on dash won't turn off.

I just had my brakes done (all 4 rotors replaced and brake shoes) on my 99 Camry, and when I took it for a test drive, the Brake light was on. The way I got rid of it was by disconnecting the battery for a minute or 2. It reset whatever was causing it to stay on.

Hope this helps.

Anti-lock brake light stays on had brake pads and rotors checked and they were fine. Visual inspection of wires were ok. Brakes work fine and make no noises.

My wife took the car to exaust pro in Lexington, Ky. They did a scan and it was a speed sensor. They replaced it and it is fine. The car is great but after hearing all the complaints about the heater core we are going to sell it and get a Toyota Avalon. Also I replaced the antenna mast at 35k.
