the fuel filter is located on the inside of the frame rail on the drivers side about where the driver seat is bolted to the floor board, it is round and about the size of a coke can
The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and can be reached by removing the back seat. And there you have a fuel filter attached to it. Another is located in the hood.
Be careful when you are disconnecting all connectors.
No not the fuel pump. You most likely need to do a tune uo. New spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter. Deffinently change out the spark plugs. I would suggest using autocraft, autolite (fords brand} or some densos or ngk for better performance. Hope this solves your problem.
ford has several different sizes for full size, not sure about rangers though. They are called fuel line tools though. Did you blow air through the connecters to remove all dirt? How about removing the metal clips that are there as a saftey measure? Those clips looke like a weird J shape that helps prevent accidental disconection.
