There is a code in the owners manual and it comes on a card the size of a credit card. It is a code that can only be used 5 times and then it automatically needs a new one. if you haven't used it more than 5 times then just enter in the code and it will unlock. If not, then take it to the dealership to get a new code. sometimes they (dealer) will write the code in the back pafe or front of the manual.
also check in the glove box for a sticker with some # on it.
Hope you find it there.
by changing the battery with out maintaining a voltage for the radio and any other electronic gear , you have lost codes and other operational information that you will have to reinstall to get it all to work again
there is only some steps you have to do before you change the battery So as to avoid losing any codes (radio and anther some features for automatic doors lock when 20k/m speed,,,,) keep radio off ,all doors unlock ignition key outside your car.then replace battery .
NOTE: No synchronization required after battery replacement. How - 1996

If battery replacement has taken longer than 5 minutes: Deactivate the system using 4 digit code from vehicle security card as detailed in the owner's handbook. Hold the remote control close to the vehicle. Press either button of the remote control 4 times or more in quick succession.
The 2006 Vibe no longer has that feature. It was discontinued after 2005. I have the 2005 so I know how to change it. If your 2006 is able to change then here are the directions from my 2005.
Programmable Automatic
Door Locks
If you have an automatic transaxle, your vehicle is equipped with an auto door lock/unlock feature which enables you to program your power door locks.
Your vehicle left the factory programmed to Mode 4.
The following is a list of the available programming options:
Mode 1: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. There is no automatic door unlocking.
Mode 2: No automatic door locking or unlocking.
Mode 3: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the shift lever is moved to PARK (P) with the ignition on.
Mode 4: All doors and liftgate lock when the shift lever is moved out of PARK (P) with the ignition on and all doors and liftgate closed. All doors and liftgate unlock when the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or to LOCK. To change the mode you are in, do the following:
1. Set the interior lamp control dial to the door position.
See Interior Lamps Control on page 3-16.
2. Move the shift lever into PARK (P) and close all doors and liftgate.
3. Turn the ignition to ON.
4. Within five seconds after the ignition is turned to ON, press and hold the power door lock switch in
the lock position for about five seconds.
5. The interior lamp will flash to indicate that the mode has been changed. For example, if the lamp flashes once, the function has been changed to Mode 1.
If the battery is disconnected or run down, the mode is changed to the initial mode which is Mode 4.
I would interpret your post of "engine won't turn over" as it would not crank. Basically, cranking is accomplished with the starter motor, however, there are other components that could likewise affect the cranking:
battery, battery terminals, battery connector, battery ground to engine;
Checking the specifications of your car, you can replace it with any battery that is the "approved sealed type". Make sure the cold crank amps match or is better than you have already. When you go to the battery shop (Sears, many car parts stores, etc), tell them your model of car and year, and they will be able to match it to what you have.
Also, make sure that you have one of your doors open when changing it to prevent being locked out.
Some other stuff of note:
When replacing the battery on 4.0/4.6 and later model Range Rovers, you should leave one of the doors open (preferably the drivers door) to prevent being locked out. This should prevent the locking system from automatically locking the vehicle and arming the alarm when the battery is being disconnected. Then, disconnect the battery negative lead first, and complete the replacement procedure normally. Afterwards, you need to put the key in the ignition to reset the alarm system and ignition transponder. You also need to key in the radio code to get it working again, and resynch the windows and sunroof. This procedure is described in the owners handbook. On the Mk III Range Rover, you even ave to reset the steering sensor after reconnecting the battery.
