MY 2005 DODGE CARAVAN WANT LET PUT IN BUT TEN GALLONS OF GAS. AFTER THAT IT CUTS THE PUMP OFF.

When filling the tank, stop filling when the pump clicks off. It sounds like you are overfilling the tank getting gas onto the built in evaporator.

Just stop filing when pump clicks off.

Replace the pump.

does the gas pump shut off automatically?? when filling it is good. Change your fuel filter, and the valve is in the gas cap, your fuel pump is in the tank!!

the fuel level sensor is a float off the side of the fuel sender. over time these floats can become weak at the pivot point and read inaccurately. fuel sender should be replaced to correct this problem

Usually a sign of a vent problem with the tank, or a blockage in the filler tube for the tank. The tube has a small pipe that is supposed to equalize pressure inside the tank as you fill it.
Someone may have to remove the filler pipe and check for restrictions.

You might need to bleed the fuel sistem!

20 gallons, (in the tank,, less than a gallon in the fill tube

It sounds like the fuel pump. Change the fuel pump and fuel filter and you should be good to go.

Depending on how much gas you put into it, you may need more than a few gallons. Other ideas can be that the fuel pump burned out since there was no gas. its not good to try starting when You know your out of gas, but try with a bit more gas. IF the tank is full , try turning the key on and off several times, DONT Start IT but just turn the key to a on position. Sometimes when you do this you will be able to hear the fuel pump, if you dont hear a faint "buuzzzzzhmmmmm" then the pump could be the prob. Another method could be getting starting fluid and spraying into your Air filter Intake to the carbuerator . Hope any of this helps, good luck =)
