Which engine do you have?
your starter may be hard to reach, but first check the harness and the starter connections, when you turn the key to start you should have power to the smaller wire on the solenoid, and you should have power at the larger wire at all times,
if no power to the smaller wire with key turned, check the start relay in the fuse box under hood, there may also be a fuse in conjunction with it, check it also, swap relays to test, the fan and horn relays are often the same,
check engine ground
test all the fuse-able links near the positive connection on your battery
test power to and from the ignition switches
if power at both wires on starter solenoid and no crank you have poor connections at starter or a bad starter solenoid, (solenoid is mounted on starter)

If the dash lights up, but no crank, it could be the anti-theft system, or the neutral safety switch, among other things.
Have you tried cranking it in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter post ?
Does everything else work when you turn the key on ?

You turn the key it clicks and it wont start

One click usually indicates the solenoid in the starter has failed. If you repeated turn the key to the crank position the starter will usually engage and get you started. This is not a fix and merely a band-aid to get you somewhere to get it fixed or to buy you some time to get the parts to fix it yourself.

Another thing you can try is to lightly tap on the starter while somebody holds the key in the crank position keeping in mind that is the vehicle does start you need to have the proper safety precautions in place so you don't get run over or loos a finger!

My chrysler lhs 1995 will not start I have power fron the battery but am getting nothing other than dash lights and door dinging

The first thing to do is make sure the battery is fully charged, then test for power at the starter, use a testlight to check for power at starter, the big cable at starter should have power at all times then the small wire should have power when the key is held in the crank postion if theres power at starter then replace the starter.

Why wont my chrysler new yorker start

It could be the battery. How old is the battery. They are only rated for so many years. Most batteries are rated for 5 years, however some cheap ones are rated for 2 years. After this time, the battery will lose some capacity meaning it will have the power to power things like cd player, lights, etc that do not require much power. However, to start the engine requires massive amounts of power that the battery can give out while under that year range. After the battery leaves this range, it does not have the capacity to start and engine. If you battery is old, and you suspect something like this might be happening, take the car to an auto store like Autozone. They should be more than happy to check you battery with their tool to see if it still has the capacity to start your engine. Hope this helps

When turning ignition key - no cranking, not even a click, lights don't dimm (except radio). Chrysler NY 1995 Battery 12.2V.

could have bad starter or neutral safety switch. try starting in neutral see if it starts if so change switch.

Car wont start.1990chrysler newyorker 3.3 my car will not start.replaced switch, tested starter still nothing.

if it will not crank have you checked all your fuses and relays? there should be a crank fuse and a starter relay. is the relay functioning propperly. next check at your starter yould should have a larger wire that is hot or has voltage on it at all times directly from the battery. there should be another smaller wire that comes from the ignition and at the keys crank position you should get 12volts on this wire this is what energizes your solenoid on the starter. not sure if you have already checked this hope it helps

Won't start

Verify starter relay wires are secured, battery cables secured, alternator is able to charge battery...can you jump start it? Also verify ignition switch is in good working order..this can cause your symptoms..cheers

Starting problems on a 1995 new yorker

Could be a few things. You said starter works, does it turn the car over or just whine?

If the car is turning over it could be a spark of fuel problem. Check your spark plugs, fuel filter and get your pump tested. The fule pump can be heard working when you click you car to the "on" postion, you will hear a buzzing sound. Try leaving your car in the "on" position for about 30 secs, then try starting it. I would also get your battery tested as there may not be enough power getting to the starter to fully turn the flywheel.
