What would cause number two on the coil pack to go out after replasing it on a 01 cugar? it was missing very bad so I put new spark plugs,fule filter,air filter,wires, and even pulled the cat to see if it was pluged and it still misses and no spark again on number two on the coil pack

A quick way to check the single coil pack if you know for sure which cylinder is miss firing and its setting a code you can swap the coil pack to another cylinder and see if the miss changes from one cylinder to another. If it travels to where you moved the coil then the coil is bad,if not you have other problems.

Causes for a cylinder misfire include. Bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire, bad coil ( or coil pack) if no wires, Bad fuel injector..I would start in the order I listed.

Coil pack going bad, spark plug wire going bad, or spark plug going bad.

If the coil pack did not resolve the issue you are experiencing, then you may either have an injector issue, or a faulty PCM-powerterain control module, also known as the vehicle's computer.

double check plug wires to be sure they go to the right cylinders. After that i would check fuel injectors
You need a listening device and listen for metallic clicking sound. Bad injectors will be silent and they do cause the same miss

Number three cylinder is miss fire,it does not mean it is the coil,although it could be,remove the coil,and boot,and spark plug,inspect them to see if the plug,or boot look bad,replace the spark plug,and if the boot is burned or distorted,replace it,a fuel injector can cause a miss fire also,but change the spark plug and see if this solves the problem,if not replace the coil,if it is a dead miss,then the coil might be bad,as for the water in the fuel ,the cap is missing,,and 5 dollars worth of HEET will not hurt,also,fuel from the fuel station,can have water in it.It happens a lot.

you have to see if the coil pack fire up do you have spark coming out of the coil pack cylinder 2 never mind the other code the missing cylinder make the other sensor malfonction check if you have spark coming out of the coil pack if not change the coil pack if you have you spark check the compression let me know pierre please dont rate right away we work together to fix our problem because i whant you to get our car running good and i whant a fixya anything else is bad for me thanks pierre

If this is a coil pack ignition system (no spark plug wires, just a coil pack on each plug), this sounds like you may have a coil pack that is going bad. Do you have a check engine light on? You might also think about having someone take a look at your fuel injectors, if one or more isn't firing this will cause a miss that will sometimes seem like a faulty spark plug. Hope this helps.

alright the most likely cause is the spark plug wires. put a set of wires on it and let us now how things are. good luck.
