What do u think it is when u increase the gas and u start to hear a knocking sound getting louder and louder

I think you need to know the difference between a knock and a ping. But, Going by what you are saying I need a couple of answers. Does this knock exist at an idle and gets louder as you raise the rpms in neutral? When did you last change engine oil and did this knock exist then? Ok, The easy part first. Drain your oil into a clean pan. and look for metal flakes or particles. Drag a magnet through it if you have one. There should be no metal and all that glitters is not gold. There should be nothing at all in the oil. Look at the drain plug, Some are magnetized. Let me know what you find. Ned

1989 -1990 350 big bear it has a knocking when starting but after a few mins it warms up doesn't seem to knock as how can I fix this

Depends where the knocking is coming from, what sort of knock, how loud it is, what speed and whether it is load and speed dependent.

It is important to have a rough idea of the location or source of the knock in order to decide whether to dismantle or not and if dismantling what to begin checking. Even if you had the patience to make the sound heard with words it would be no substitute for an experienced person hearing it.
Also different people describe noises differently and hear them differently.

Aluminium is a common material used in such engines and it expands about seven times more than steel as it heats up and this is the principle reason why cold engine knocks can fade after warm-up and why some cold engines are silent and are noisier when hot.

Listening through a stethoscope or a large screwdriver is an aid to locating the area of the knock. A load dependent knocking indicates piston or connecting rod problems and if the noise becomes louder and more harsh on load or as the speed increases it signals trouble sooner rather than later

Koncking noise in front end, get louder when pressing the gas...

Hello, this could be a very big problem. I would first off and check that your oil level is fine. Next, the bearings on your rods or rod bearings may have been "thrown" causing this internal knock and this can be a cataclysmic problem which will lead to engine problems. This knock can also be your valves tapping and this can be from a stuck lifter, to bad valve lash, or a warped camshaft. An engine can also knock from a cooling system problem. Your engine can knock from improper timing which causes pre detonation of a spark. The list can continue from a bad oil pump not supplying oil to your system, to a cooling system failure, to no oil, to bad fouled spark plugs, to a thrown rod bearing, to a bad valve or stuck lifter. So, what does this all mean you may ask. If you do not have a friend who is mechanically savy I would absolutely have this looked at by a professional mechanic. I would first however to check your oil and coolant level before this. By the sound of the noise increasing with an increased load you may have a big problem. I hate being the bearer of bad news but at least you caught the problem now before it came a bigger problem. I hope this fixes your problem and I hope you get the problem fixed!

1979 cad fleetwood brougham knocking sound from, engine

Sometimes collapsed lifters or loose rocker arms can cause knocking sounds in an engine. However, the fact that there was a possible loss of oil pressure and that the knocking gets louder as the rpm's increase, would indicate that there is damage to a connecting rod bearing and possibly the crankshaft. If the latter is the case you are looking at a fairly substantial repair bill.
