The igniter unit is called the Ignition Control Module (ICM) for 1993-'95 models but is the same part.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove distributor cap screws and remove dist. cap and
seal. Slide off the leak cover.
3. Disconnect the three leads from the igniter unit.
4. Remove the igniter unit retaining screw and remove the igniter.
5. To install new unit, reverse the order of directions.

What is an ignitor on an electronic ignition system

No. The ignitor is usually an ignition module mounted outside the distributor, on the fender well in most Toyotas. In early Chevys the equivalent part is the ignition module inside the distributor (which failed often). The capacitor at the base of the coil on early cars is a noise suppressor for the radio.

No spark on newer EFI cars is often the ignition module (ignitor), crank or cam sensor, or bad coil.

Where is igniter lacated on rav 4 1998

98? what engine?
the ignitor can be in 3 places on all cars.
1: fire wall. connects to 1 coil, or 2 coils(WS) or 4 COPS.
2: ECU
3 :inside the COPS.

the ignitor changes the induction (spark) coil.
and can be in any of 3 places.

i log in to alldata dot com, so can you (a USA example ONLY)
it has 2 (4pin( Igniters)
so obvious has wasted spark.
power pin, ground pin and 2 , pins to ECU.

it says, in the finder, ignition coils 1and2 with ignitor
in coil finder, and service, it states
remove throttle body to access coils

RTM
see coils, ? see wire they go to one place, the ignitor
follow the those wires, see igniters.

My engine doest start. accordingly the distributor fuse doest work

The ignitors (ignition module) in the distributors tended to fail in early nissans and sometimes the best way to fix it is to replace the whole distributor with a new remanufactured one. One thing that can cause the ignitor and ignition coil to go bad is to crank the engine with the distributor cap off or the spark plug wires disconnected who told you theres a distributor fuse there isnt one

94 toyota camery 4 cyl wont start Ichecked the fuel injectors there ok checked fuel pump works fine replace distributor cap and the ignitor but I dont get a spark at the sparkplugs.henrys

check all efi and ign fuses first...then check pickup coil and ignition coil in distributor w/ ohm meter...since you already replace the ignitor, then mostly likely it's the pickup coil or ignition coil...buy the whole

Stalls while driving

try using an ignitor and/or ignition coil from a known good Forerunner. If it works replace the ignitor or coil. This code means the ECM or computer module is not getting anything from the ignitor or ignition coil.
