Ford auto trans 5r55e make noisy [n reverse and will not stay in park

It sounds like the linkages have let go. If this is the case, then drive it to a repairer straight away. If you turn the vehicle off you might not get it started again.

Check for codes
Check that the Selector Switch on trans is good
Change the Solenoid Pack inside trans pan

12 years is getting down the road for any trans
so the seals could be ******* the servo pistons
The valve body dirty

Best solution is to rebuild it

Sounds like a bad alternator. Most auto part stores will check these for free. All you have to do is get it off the van (which I know is no easy feat)

Does the shifter move or are you holding the car by the parking pawl in the trans. You should be using the parking brake on a hill. Is the trans low on fluid, because it is leaking or you just do no know? Mercon V on the fluid.

U might need to check ur linkage where ur shifter is on the tranny

What is trans code on label on driver door opening or door?

Do you have manual low? That is pulling shift lever all the way to "L"

You should have dealer run diagnostic self test for fault codes?

Reverse takes much higher pressure to operate.

If you have manual low, it is likely low/reverse clutch that's bad. That means overhaul.

There are 2 different tranmissions in this vehicle. Make sure you know which one you have when selecting the torque settings. Do notice the 5R55E pan bolts are tightened in inch pounds. 4R70W Torque convert drain plug. 21-22 ftlb Pan bolts 9-11 ftlb 5R55E Pan bolts 115-133 inlb Ford Rear end Pan bolts 33 ftlb

replace the park\neutral safety switch it controlles the reverse lights auto trans ---manual trans replace the rev erse light switch
