There are at least five different vacuum diagrams for that engine and year, depending on the emissions package installed. You need to buy a subscription to alldatatdiy.com or see if your local library has online access. You are not going to find the right diagram online for free. Those days are gone. The car companies have clamped down on bootleg posts

this is for 81 olds cutlass supreme--5.0L engine. The closets year I could find.

this is the early Cherokee and is not grand. 1995+

ill not try to guess the engine.

258 cu in (4.2 L) AMC I6
360 cu in (5.9 L) AMC V8 2-barrel

made in USA or Australia, ill guess USA

the vacuum setups vary by carb used
and if FED usa or Calif USA setups
fed was called 49 state back when...
and there is the high altitude versions.
and std or HD cooling versions (huge list of vacuum setups, if you want look in alldata.com and behold.
omg one more the Canada version.... (ill skip export versions)
calif versions are huge complex....

so ill guess the 360 2 barrel,

I don't have a diagram but I think the replacement carburetor may have come off an engine that had a governor which was activated by a plunger under the distributor plate. The vacuum lines went between the carburetor and distributor. Check to see if there is vacuum at one of the lines when the engine is runnuing. If there is just plug it off. A vacuum leak could be causing your idle problem.

hmmmm... im not expert in these kind of problem but... try to replace the diagram? it is possible?
