1. It might not be getting enough air through the radiator because the radiator is dirty, the fan isn't pulling enough air through because of a slipping belt, missing belt or bad fan clutch.
2. The coolant might not be transferring heat as much as it should due to deposits in the radiator, deposits in the engine or low coolant level.
3. The water pump impeller may be spinning on the shaft [not likely but it can happen] or the water pump pulley may be slipping on the drive belt.

Land cruiser turbo light on

There is not much I can advise you on because you have not provided enough information. Are we talking about a gas engine or a diesel engine? What YEAR is your Land Cruiser? I cannot look up any service information or things like Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) without knowing exactly what we are talking about.

"Toyota Land Cruiser" covers a lot of different years, a lot of different engines, and a whole bunch of differences in engine control systems. All I know at this point is that it is equipped with a turbocharger.

The engine is a 12ht turbo diesel 85 modle hj61 land cruiser. engine will start, the base idle is low and runs rough RPM aprox 600. wind up base idle with idle screw to 1000 runs good but u can take turn...

Check to see stop solenoid is working, you may be able to do this by getting someone to turn the key on and off slowly while you are hold your fingers against the side of it.
It is the small metal (Nut) with a wire going into it for an easy description.
The reason you have to choke the engine to stop it is you have either no power going to the switch or the switch is not working properly. i would think more that the switch may not be working properly as it is meant to close fully when power is turned off, if this was working it doesn't matter how much the motor is reving it will still shut of the fuel to the pump.
Sometime these solenoids get a bit of dirt etc stuck in them s well, this is usually just a easy fix, clamp the rubber fuel line before the pump, undo the switch, clean it and refit it, then undo the clamp and prime the pump using the hand primer.
Then start the vehicle, don't try to start the vehicle before you have reprimed the pump as you can damage the engine if you don't have fuel going into it.
Hope this helps, and good luck with it.
Dont rush working on a diesel, just take your time mate.

Toyota diesel hilux D4D noisy engine.just fitted. sounds like bottom end?

Take the Vehicle back to the Installer/Supplier, for a Free of Charge CHECK and ADVISE under New Engine Warranty. If the OIL PRESSURE is LOW, when starting up from COLD, there is a genuine fault, so do not drive any distance.

Up hill driving problem

Dear atugonzawenc,
Please be more specific. What kind of vehicle is it? Petrol, or diesel? What is its mileage? When was it last serviced? Does it have a turbo? We shall be able to help you further if these preliminary questions are answered.

Engine wont start after high speed highway driving when i turn it off

Take off the black plastic that covers the fuel pump.(It is atached to the engine on the left side). There is a grey conector that hooks to the return valve of the pump. It gets hot and looses contact, stoping the engine. There is a factory recall to replace that conector. You can fix it for the moment by umpluging it and twisting a litle the pins with a needle plyer.
