When the windshield in my 2003 yukon was replaced the tech nicked the satelite radio antenna lead. Now the salelite radio will not work.It doesn't even register on the radio readout. Any ideas

Radio repairman checked and said the radio is bad.I put another radio in and it did the same thing.I don't think the antenna is cut all the way but I am not sure. The satelite stations don't even show when the band button is pushed. This is a factory bose 9 speaker system.

Radio reception in 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis is poor. Very few stations come in and static is louder than program. CD part of unit works great.

Buy yourself an aftermarket antenna and install it. Do not get a power retractor, nor one with a ball on the bottom, just one of those simple 31 inch rod units.

You will most likely have to pull a fender liner to mount it and fish the cable around to get it to the back of the radio. Try and avoid an extension cable. A local car stereo store could do this cheap in about an hour. Retracting antennas, in the windshield antennas just do not work.

Call a GM dealer for the number as these have changed since then. A good qualified Tech with a hi-end scanner should be able to find the problem.

Radio Stations are all static

If the antenna isnt there... that may be the problem!! LOL

Have you tried an aftermarket antenna directly to the radio to see if it works properly?

Fixed MAST antennas usually designate a standard 31" antennas protruding from the wheel well on either the passenger or Driver side.... not the bumper.

A solution to the fixed mast/car wash problem is to go with an interior glass mount or hidden antenna. This keeps your wiring out of the outside corrosive environment as well.

Wheres the antenna?

Hi i'm Ryan, the antenna should be located in the rear window (glass-integrated FM diversity antenna) It should plug into the back of the radio, not sure if you can use that location instead.

Radio

I am not sure if this will help. I have 2 Audi's, old 1991 turbo models, and the antennae on both is part of the rear windshield demist "coil". On my model, the very top section of the demist coil is separate from the rest and has two connections which go into the sidepanel and lead to the antennae "electrics", a small rectangular box situated behind the carpet in the trunk on the left hand side.
