I have a 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 4X4 automatic. When driving home last week I merged into traffic and when the transmission up-shifted it slipped. I let up on the gas and it hooked up and I was able to get home. I didn't drive it for a day or so but when I got into it the next time reverse does not work.

Check ur fluid--is it burnt or have a bad smell? You might only need a trans service which is changing the fluid and filter, in the process the tech will tell u if there are any filings in the pan, if so u will need an overhaul, if not the service might fix u up--good luck
