Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
Right center of the engine compartment, in the transaxle case extension. Go to Bing homepage If you don't mind , why are you going to replace this ? Speedometer not working ? If the vehicle transmission shifts good , there is nothing wrong with the VSS
Well, the first thing one should check is the transmission fluid level. Add Dexron ATF to the transmission until full when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature after 30 or 40 minutes of driving.
Secondly, if the car's transmission hasn't been flushed and filled in 30,000 mi. it's recommended that you do so as normal maintenance. This service typically costs about $100 or so.
If the car only runs forward but not reverse, a solenoid may be plugged up with clutch dust, or it's shorted out and needs to be replaced. However, tearing down a transmission on a 2001 Cadillac Seville is rather expensive, in the thousands of dollars.
One might consider getting a good used transmission that has a guarantee on it and have it installed, or have the one in it rebuilt.
never come across this before and i would need to see the engine layout to work out what could be causing it but if its low oil pressure then add a tin of STP or wynns and see what happens
Most likely the safety feature built into the brake switch. Check to see if the brake lights come on when you step onthe brake. If not, it's likely the bad brake switch preventing you from putting the car into gear. If this is not the case, then you have a security issue and should try a different key to start the car.
Could be your neutral safety switch as well. ECM could be a problem, but I would make sure you have voltage going to this sensor (it's located at the top of the transaxle where the shifter cable meets the gearbox).
Hi.The sls has a automatic release that is suposed io release the e brake w/ the car is put into reverse (however) the vacume valve (by the e brake pedal assy) fails or the vac line comes off, the brake will stay applied.there is a small lever on the e brake pedal mechinism that will release the brake,if you look under the dash by the pedal assy good luck RAY.
