SOURCE: I have a 1999 Ford

its most likely one hub isnt locking . you need to take the hub apart and clean and inspect for broken parts(some time the hub will get 1/2 engaged and you would put power to it and will break the hub ) make sure your hub isnt broken then reassemble with light grease and try the hub. if broken new are very expensive. there are alot of used one in the salvage yards just give them a call they would love to help you at a fraction of the cost. tech rating 4

I have a 2008 Saturn outlook with 2w drive. I recently drove in wet weather a my Stabil Trak and traction control indicators

When the Stabilitrak and Traction Control indicators come on and stay illuminated in your 2008 Saturn Outlook, it typically indicates a problem with the vehicle's stability control system. This system helps maintain control and stability during adverse driving conditions, such as wet or slippery roads. There are several potential causes for these warning lights, and it's essential to address the issue promptly to ensure your vehicle's safety and performance. Here are some common reasons for the warning lights to stay on:
  1. Wheel Speed Sensor Issues: The Stabilitrak and Traction Control systems rely on information from wheel speed sensors to determine if a wheel is slipping or losing traction. If one of these sensors is malfunctioning or dirty, it can trigger the warning lights.
  2. Faulty ABS Module: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module is closely related to the stability control system. If there is a problem with the ABS module, it can affect the functionality of Stabilitrak and Traction Control.
  3. Damaged Wiring: Damage to the wiring that connects the wheel speed sensors to the control module can disrupt the communication and trigger the warning lights.
  4. Malfunctioning Control Module: The control module responsible for the stability control system can develop faults or errors over time.
  5. Brake System Issues: Problems with the vehicle's braking system, including worn brake pads, can sometimes lead to issues with the Stabilitrak system.
  6. Faulty Steering Angle Sensor: The steering angle sensor is part of the stability control system. A malfunction in this sensor can lead to warning lights.
  7. Low Fluid Levels: Low brake fluid levels can trigger the warning lights, as the stability control system may interpret it as a potential issue with the braking system.
To diagnose and address the problem, you should take your Saturn Outlook to a qualified mechanic or a dealership. They can perform a diagnostic scan using specialized equipment to pinpoint the exact issue that is causing the warning lights to stay on. Once the problem is identified, they can recommend the necessary repairs or replacements.
It's important not to ignore these warning lights, as the stability control system is designed to enhance vehicle safety and performance, particularly in adverse driving conditions. Addressing the issue promptly will help ensure the continued safe operation of your vehicle.

FORD ABS CODE CMDTCs ???stability control inhibit warning

This is accomplished by triggering the hydraulic control unit (HCU) to open and close the appropriate solenoid valves. Once the affected wheel returns to normal speed, the ABS module returns the solenoid valves to their normal position and normal (base) braking resumes. 4 wheel drive won't engage

Which do you have ?
Transfer Case - NVG 236 (Two Speed Automatic)
Transfer Case - NVG 233-NP1 (Two Speed Selectable)
The NV236 transfer case is an automatic transfer case with three drive ranges. Shifting from rear wheel drive to four wheel drive is done automatically when the transfer case shift control module receives wheel rotating slip information from the speed sensors. The transfer case shift control module then engages the transfer case motor/encoder to position the transfer case from rear to four wheel drive. When the transfer case shift control module receives information that the wheel rotation is the same on both axles, the transfer case shift control module sends position information to the motor/encoder to put the transfer case back into rear wheel drive. The three drive ranges are 2HI, 4HI, and 4LO. The 2HI position is for normal driving with the rear wheels pushing the vehicle. The 4HI, position is for driving through sand, snow, mud, gravel, or heavy rain at normal or slightly below normal speeds. The 4HI engages the front axle to allow for four wheel drive. The front axle is pulling the vehicle, and the rear axle is pushing the vehicle. The 4LO range is used for off road driving, heavy snow, deep mud, or shallow fording. The 4LO is similar to the 4HI except that the gearing in the transfer case is set for low speed and high torque. The NV236 is manufactured at Syracuse New York by New Venture Gear a division of New Process Gear for General Motors.

On my 2007 explorer the brake engage when you put the car in drive and the rcs light comes on

Do you mean the RSC light ?
  • Roll stability control (RSC)/interactive vehicle dynamics (IVD)
  • Roll Stability Control (RSC)
The roll stability control (RSC) system monitors the roll-rate sensor and existing stability assist sensors and calculates if the vehicle may be approaching a situation where rollover is probable. If such a situation exists, the RSC system applies preemptive action. When activated, the RSC system adjusts the brake torque at specific wheels in response to direct measurement of the vehicle roll motion. By adjusting brake torque, the system can reduce the cornering forces and, therefore, the total roll moment acting on the vehicle. Systems with RSC have an additional roll-rate sensor located within the sensor cluster and additional programming within the ABS module to help control the vehicle during sudden maneuvers.
Information from the roll-rate sensor is fed into the ABS module. The computer uses information from the ABS wheel speed sensors, the throttle position sensor, the steering wheel angle, the steering wheel rate of change and a yaw rate sensor that measures the change in vehicle direction. If the computer determines from all these inputs that conditions exist for a potential roll over, the system applies one or more brakes and reduces engine torque to make the vehicle more stable.
If the event is severe and the driver's foot is not on the brake, the brake pedal moves to apply higher brake forces. A whooshing sound can also be heard from under the instrument panel in an event this severe .
I strongly suggest you have this vehicle towed to a ASE certified repair shop that knows this system !
