When i put into reverse the reversing light indicators go red and remain red and dont sense anything
So I understand this to mean the proximity sensors designed to detect obstructions when backing are not working? Do these tie into the computer so that they could result in malfunction codes?
This video is obviously not Porsche but it may be helpful for diagnosis.
I also found this:
Check the parking sensors control unit to see if it is wet or damp from water in that location. It is located in the rear storage area of your Cayenne. Open the rear door then pull open the cover on the left side and sitting on the bottom just aft of the left wheel well it is a little black box that controls your parking sensorsystem. If it gets wet you will have issues or failure of your parking sensor system. If it gets or was wet or damp back there you will have to dry the unit off, if it has shorted/burnout the control unit will need to be replaced. For a short term fix dry the control unit off and place it in a plastic bag to prevent it from any water in the future. Then you will have time to look and see why water is getting in that area.... This has been a common problem....
Someone else reported that they reached up behind the bumper and found the rear of the sensors coverd with mud and clearing them off fixed the problem.
