If your previous turbo had leaked oil into the exhaust system there would still be oil residue left in the system. (1) The catalytic converter/converters would need to be replaced if you have one plus any O2 sensors. (2) If your muffler/mufflers are a glass packed type, replace it with a new one. If muffler is a chamber type you can clean it with a solvent or replace your call. The muffler/mufflers are were most of the oil will be pooling. (3) Clean as much of the exhaust as you can with the solvent that you used to flush the mufflers with.
its important to have the right amount of backprettiar in your exhaust, so if going from 2 mufflers and 2 pipes to a single one would need to enlarge the size of the pipe to compansate. or it wont breath right and end up gutless.
NEED TO TAKE VECHICLE TO MUFFLER SHOP LET THEM FIX RUST PIPE WITH A NEW PIPE.LET MUFFLER SHOP FIX BECAUSE THEY CAN WELD JOINT SEAL BOTH NEW EXHAUST PIPE AND NEW MUFFLER SO YOU WONT GET CARBON MONOXIDE POISON LET MUFFLER SHOP CHECK ALL THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BECAUSE THE WHOLE SYSTEM COULD BE RUSTED DROP DOWN WHILE DRIVING YOU PROBABLY NEED NEW EXHAUST PIPE HANGERS.
for exhaust, if you want stock looking then get a prelude muffler and have a shop make the piping the same size as the prelude exhaust (which is 2.25 i think?) if you want sleeper exhausts then get two 2-1/2" dynomax race bullets $27.95 ea. from summit. and a Magnaflow street muffler in your style of choice. $120?? get 1 race bullet welded in just behind the cat or header and the other back before the first 90 degree bend and the muffler welded on.
This is the best way to make a super sleeper. Magnaflow's are super quiet.
Race bullets act as resonators. they are only available in 2.5" in/out but thats ok.
Before you despair this might just be a good sign. Two things
1) often the paste used to repair exhausts takes heat to cure (harden) properly. Part of this cooking process is the production of quite opaque fumes.
2) if the muffler box has filled with water - this happens normally since the products of burning Octane gas in the engine is carbon dioxide and water as exhaust. If the exhaust system does not get completely hot along its length, by the passage of exhaust gases through it, water will condense and sit in the muffler. It could be that by fixing the hole the muffler is now drying itself out.
I am a little concerned about the power loss. My advice is take the car out for a long run and get everything hot. Before you start check the coolant level in your filler tank under the hood, If after the long run your car still has symptoms of low power and white exhaust it could be that you have a coolant leak into one of the cylinders. This will be confirmed if you check your filler tank again after the run....significant loss of fluid would indicate a blown head gasket that would need replacing. I raise this spectre as opaque white exhaust gases is also a major sign of glycol antifreeze additive in the coolant being burnt and that can only happen if there is leak into one of the cylinders. Fingers crossed it is not this.
You can normally buy those from any local parts store or you could get an exhaust gasket maker and make your own its quite simple alls you need to do is trace your old gasket on. Hope thatl be of help
