What make , model an year vehicle ? What do you mean ? The red brake light symbol is lit on the dash or you have a message on the DIC - driver information center saying parking brake fault ! If the light that comes on when you set the parking brake is what your talking about ., This light also comes on when the brake master cylinder is low on brake fluid ! Could need brakes or have a leak in the hydraulic system. The light could also be on at the same time as the ABS light ,which could be a whole other problem .

Parking brakes on cc are motor driven. When you pull up lever a motor applies emergency brake pads to the rotors to keep you car from rolling back. Have a mechanic pull the rear wheel and watch the pads as someone applies the brake. If it sticks the motor or solenoid in the wheel may need to be replaced as it is binding
This happened to my dad's F150 and it was the ABS fuse. He had a ABS warning light on the dash, so you might have the same. I would check any fuse related to the brakes and instruments lights. Hopefully it is a fuse issue, which is a quick fix. If not, it could be a solenoid lock which does not allow the shifter to move without the brake being depressed.
It's a fuse issue. Part of the shift interlock system.
If the radio is also not working, it's the cigarette lighter fuse. This one fuse controls the cigarette lighter, the radio, and the shift interlock system. It's in the kick panel fuse box on the driver's side.
If it's not that fuse, it's the "Stop" fuse in the same panel. Both blown fuses create the same behavior.
Easy fix! Don't bother with a mechanic. If the fuse continues to blow, take it to be checked.
