If i knew what a festiva was i would tell you ,but never seen this vehicle ,if its a front wheel drive car then it should be easy enough ,undo the big nut in the middle of the wheel then jack it up both sides so the antiroll bar is slack then remove the wheel and the track rod end ,big hammer on the side of the housing does this but leave the nut a few threads in case you miss with the hammer.remove the brake caliper so the pipes are not pulled, then undo the lower track control arm from the steering unit and the out side end can then be pulled free from the hub .then check the indie of the shaft as some just pull out but some like a renault have a dowel pin .dont forget to drain the gearbox first as when the shaft is pulled out the oil will pour out

How to front trans axle seal 1998 Monte Carlo

you have to pull the half shaft out on the side the seal is leaking then pop out the seal and install new seal. this means r&r the wheel, brake, separate the lower ball joint, remove the half shaft axle nut, remove the half shaft from the spindle and pull out half shaft from trans. install in reverse order.

Remove

You will have to get a pry bar in between the Trans and half shaft/ axle and use pushing force to remove. I've used leg power on certain cars to remove axle

How to change a Cv joint on a 1997 Pontiac Grandam

While the car is still on the ground remove the half shaft nut then jack the car up and support it with jack stands and remove the tire. after you get the tire off you may have to remove the break caliper and the rotor, if you have to do this now. Remove the lower ball joint nut and break apart the ball joint with a large pry bar by prying down on the lower a frame. grab the steering knuckle with both hands and pull until the half shaft is free from the bearing hub assembly. then grab the half shaft and give it a good tug to remove it from the trans axle, you may have to pry it out with a small pry bar wedged between the inner cv joint and the trans axle. at this point I would replace the entire half shaft it is cheaper and a lot easier than replacing the cv joint. installation is reversed but be careful of the splines when installing the half shaft back into the trans axle and the bearing hub. Good luck.

I am changing the drivers side half shaft on a 2003 ford escape. The shaft won't come out of the transmission. Do you know how to remove it?

use a pry bar and put it in between the trany and the axle and give it a pull,or use a hammer and a bar place bar against back side of axle and hit it with hammer to break free, theres a c clip on the end of the shaft that holds it in,00fa5f7.jpg

I have a 97 trans sport and when i drive it it pops real loud, and almost feels like passenger side front end jumps

check your front wheel drive axles/half shafts, see if the rubber boots that cover the bearings are not torn or missing.. sounds like you might need to replace the axle/half shaft on the passengers side
