What causes motor to sputter or run rough

Assuming your truck is old enough to have a distributor cap and wires, either one could be shorting out when wet or damp.
You may need to replace the cap, rotor and wires to fix the problem.

If you can determine the ignition system is ok, I would look at fuel pressure and the fuel filter. If the distributor was loose you may have to check base timing.

My 1995 oldsmobile auroara runs rough when it rains and sometimes it stops and wont start again

a simple check would be to replace the distributor cap. Often there will be hairline cracks that can't be seen and will cause no trouble until it's wet outside.

RUNS GREAT,BUTWHEN IT RAINS OR EVEN GET WET IT WONT RUN,TURNSOVER BUT JUST WONT START???

distributor problem I draped a piece of plastic over the distributor from the wiper splash pan so when you open the hood all the rain or snow doesn't dump on distributor also change cap and rotor and consider a reman distributor if this has been happening for a while simply every part is probably corroded good luck

Jetta GLX 1998 (old body), when it rains heavy, car run rough

Sounds like you need new wires and or cap and rotor, had the same problem on my jetta 1.8L when I would drive it in heavy rain it would bog down and misfire. The water blows threw the rad right onto your distributor and wires causing the short (old and cracked or just defective). Try it out I'm sure that will fix it.

Rough running after rain

It sounds as thou you have moisture in your distributor.Pull the distributor cap off and let the car sit and dry out for a couple of days and see if that fixes the problem.
