My fiero is stuck In neutral . Why? And how do I get it to shift to park

1984 to 1988 not told
wow an almost working Fiero. Pontiac
not told at all when did it last shift and drive.
last decade or?
i guess the box is rusted up solid.
NO to park is usually a free trip
but park to any other gear is blocked if brake lamps are dead. called park lock out.

at side of the gear box. (a/t) shift the shaft lever shaft by hand (cable dropped off) if will not move the tranny is rust bucket inside.

to shift takes foot on brake and shift.
brake lamps show dead, it can not shift.

1988 Dodge Ram 50 Automatic shifts into park reverse and neutral. But physically won't go into drive gears.

Disconnect shift cable from transmission linkage and try to manually put transmission in drive gear ( make sure wheels chocked/park brake on ). If transmission goes into drive gear, suspect a shift cable or shifter assembly problem. If you can't manually shift into drive gear by hand with cable disconnected, suspect internal transmission/shift linkage issue

My1988 Oldsmobile 98 Regence will not shift into Park?

First check all the linkage in the shifter lever parts, Something in the steering column may be blocking it, or a a linkage part bent under the car. Otherwise it is inside the transmision and would be a big job to fix it.

Why doesnt my 1988 98 oldsmobile shift into third gear

If it is a manule trans then you need to shift it sooner. And for the reason it will not go into third gear is the gear could be gone or the saycronizer is bad. You will have to put in a new trans or get this one fixed in order to get third gear.

98 Oldsmobile intrigue gear shift stuck in park Does not stick all the time. Can be moved out of gear by using strength to move it. help please. Thank you

Donot use strength for the shifter, make sure the brake light come on when brake padle is pressed down, if not then change the brake light switch. The shifter is powered through the brake light switch.
