This may be caused by a brake pad warning indicator; have them checked.

SOURCE: ABS and TC light on, speedometer and odometer not working

I have the 2000 Cadillac Catera Sport and I had the same problem. ABS, TC light and no speedometer and odo. I thought it was an electrical problem however I solved the problem by refurbishing the ABS Module. If you bring to the dealer it will cost you $3,000. You can have your ABS module rebuilt try modulemaster.com they do it for about $200 I believe. I got mine fixed because a friend of mine removed them and soldered some loose connectors together. All it cost me was a case of beer! It worked for my car just a suggestion for you guys. My ABS Module was a Bosch 5.3. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: I have a 1999 cadi deville, the abs and traction

A few things could be wrong....it could be your brake control module, anti-lock brake system or a wheel speed sensor. The best thing to do is to get it into a garage and have them take a look at it and give you an idea of what is wrong. Either way, if you do not have the proper tools, you are better off taking it to the shop.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: my anti lock brake and traction control light came

Could have a ABS wheel speed sensor going bad, once this happens will disable the ABS and the trac control. Have it scanned and find out which sensor is bad. Small possibility of ABS module failure, but not as likely.

CEL light, cruise control and brake light blinking and traction control light (codes P2096 and C0057)

I have seen this happen with dirty or loose connection ether at or around the battery and also the connection at the under hood fuse block itself . Sometimes its the connections under the fuse block. Check them all , and while its apart apply some dielectric grease to each connection, If you can find the connection to the ABS pump I would start there. The ABS is part of traction and stability control . Disconnect the battery before unplugging anything tho .

Trac light blinks an i hear a clicking noise in my 2001 toyota 4runner 2wd when im goin thru mud. it also has no throttle response when this happens.

that is traction control. most vehicles with traction control use a combination of brakes/throtle control and transmission upshifting to control traction. in other words, your car computer senses wheel spin and then overides you to make the car regain traction. most cars that feature traction control also have a button to turn traction control on and off manually.

Transmission Traction "Off" light stays lit with Traction button

The traction control system is controlled through the Anti-lock brake system. The way it works is if one of your wheels starts spinning the ABS applys the brake to that wheel to transfer power to the oppsite wheel that is getting traction. If your ABS is bad then your Traction control won't work. To check it I would find a parking lot on a wet day. In an open space mash in the gas. if you hear the ABS system kick in and you don't squall the tires then your good. My guess is you won't. What I would be worried about is will my ABS work. When checking the traction control is a good time to check the ABS. Acclerate to around 15 mph, then mash the brake as your live depended on it. If you hear a motor run and feel a vibration or grind in the brake peddal, then it works.

TRACTION CONTROL.

that is what it is desgined to do - reduce acceleration and apply the brakes intermittently when the wheels spin. You have a switch you cn push to disable it. You need to disable each time you start car. See owner manual.

06-10: Traction Control 1996 Contour, Mystique Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Traction Control System The optional traction control system is designed to control wheel spin when accelerating on slippery or loose surfaces. Traction control system is available only with anti-lock brakes. The traction control system includes the following components:
  • Hydraulic control unit.
  • Throttle control actuator (9N825).
  • Traction control switch.
  • Traction control warning indicator.
  • Front brake anti-lock sensor (2C204).
  • Rear brake anti-lock sensor (2C190).
The traction control system operates as follows:
  • System functions by transferring torque from the spinning wheel to the wheel with the most traction.
  • This is achieved by applying the brake at the spinning wheel through the hydraulic control unit or reducing the throttle opening.
  • Traction control braking and throttle control occur at vehicle speeds up to 50 km/h (30 mph).
  • At vehicle speeds above 50 km/h (30 mph), only throttle limiting control is used.
  • If speed control is operating when traction control system engages the traction control system will disengage speed control through the use of a speed control relay. This action is the same as applying the brake pedal with speed control engaged.
1996 contour
Traction Control Switch The traction control switch is located on the instrument panel, left of the steering column.
