I have a 1998 Ford escort and ive had my air con re-charged and it wont get cold is it my pump and how easy is it to replace and will i have to have it de-charged
First you should have it tested for leaks....common problems are the condensor and evaporator, possible pump...but in the long run its costly just replacing parts, have it inspected.... hope this helped....GL

Hello did you flush out the cooling system while you had you coolant drained?this would be ideal to do at t hat time. Also be sure to bleed All air out of cooling system to avoid air lock.
What type radiator fan do you have? Fixed cconstant , viscous variable speed or electric?
Does it run cooler at highway speeds above 35 mph?
What is the pressure range on the radiator cap?
Is the coolant mixed at approx. 60/40?
Is the condensor and radiator clean and able to pass enough air?
Is the fan shroud on?
Genuine concerns, let me know, good luck
I think,on this vehicle, there is a w o t switch. This is WIDE OPEN THROTTLE ,if so it may be bad. Also look for a short in the low side clutch cycle switch.I am not familiar with this model car,but basically they should all work on the same principle. If I can help, let me know.>>[email protected]
Hi. It will need to be re-gassed at ur local air con place but b4 u take it there make sure the compressor is working when u turn ur air con on. If the clutch on the compressor does not engage its a sure sign it is out of gas.
click on the following link, insert the year, make, model, and engine of the car. On the left, you will find a Belt Routing Diagram link. Be sure to choose the link that includes Air Conditioning. . Hope this helps. Best of luck with your repair.

i should imagine the clutch on your air con pump could be at fault. be very careful as ts been known before for air con pump to catch fire and you dont want that with compressed gas in there
U MUST HAVE THE CHARGE RECOVERED BY A SHOP.
