I recently replaced the left inside door handle and bezel and noticed that the cheaper handle/lock assembly I purchased over the internet would bind the orange locking switch when I installed with the bezel. I removed the bezel by prying off the locking tabs with a straight stiff exacto knife and the lock worked fine with actuator. I am ordering the higher priced Toyota OEM handle and expect it to work. When linkage or lock bind, the actuator stops pulsing normally from a built-in overload protection. This is the same failure with regard to window track friction that causes windows to stock functioning. Silicon lubricant will help with both problems and may avoid a motor replacement.

So the sliding back door is stuck in the unlock position it sounds like? Also, the switch on the door...that locks/unlocks all doors? And is there an option to lock/unlock each individual door on that switch? Please let me know and I will see if I can determine how tedious it may be to self-repair or even just to troubleshoot. Also,do you have any electrical measuring equipment?Greg

99 Sienna pwr door lock failure

Sounds electrical/relay to me if you cannot lock by pressing the lock button on the door itself. Driver and passenger acting the same AND the remote all the same result point to only one culprit.
Let me know how it goes and best of luck!
