Is the motor overheating? does it have oil?, does it make any noise?

Posted on Dec 15, 2014

Testimonial: "oil/a-freeze good. not overheating. engines sounds ok. applied battery/load tester to terminals with engine off. displayed 12.5 volts. with load, reading dumped to the bad range on the dial, on release of load, it jumped to 8 volts then back to 12 volts. applied test 2nd time, reading dumped to the bad zone on meter then only returned to 7 volts after load test. after much trouble, truck can be jump started and alternator indicates good operation. I think that the battery is defective. starter has been tested and is in good order."

intermittents are sometimes hard to diagnose out !! and this seems as one , im curious though what made them wiggle the relays and fuses ?? was there a previous problem there ?? depending on year of manufacture of car , is weather or not the cars own pcu can help diagnose what made car stop , as later models "remember " what there last condition was that shut off engine , of course this requires diagnostic equipment to see this info that typically car owners don't own , but a qualified service tech does and knows how to use it to find your problem

Engine turns over but dies right away, then acts like the battery is dead. I jump started it but the engine dies unless I give it gas.

Try resetting the computer by removing one battery cable for 1/2 minute. Re-attach cable & drive one mile--should be reset. ( My Dodge does this & wil not reset until I drive it a mile or so.)
