NO, YOUR PROBLEM IS THE IDLE AIR CONTROL OR THERE IS A VACCUM LEAK

SOURCE: 87 firebird fuel pump

Remove the exhaust, drop the rear end, remove the fuel cap, and surrounding rubber flange. remove the two hanger straps (be sure to have fuel tank supported so it doesn't just fall out. Remove hoses/electrical connector. Pull tank out, and remove metal lock ring that holds fuel pump assembly in place. Remove fuel pump assembly. Installation is reverse of removal. I have had 7 of these cars, and am currently driving one now. If you have any other questions about it, please ask!

Hello,
Replacing the sending unit / module is optional when its a metal top module. If it's plastic I would replace the whole thing reguardless.

I hope this helps.

I have a 91 firebird with a 3.1 v6. It will idle fine when I first crank it and run down the road fine. But after driving maybe 5-10 miles it will stall anytime I let off the gas. It has a manual...

The first thing I would do is try to relearn the idle. To do this, first disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes, then reconnect the cable. Then using an unfolded paper clip jump terminals A and B in the connector under the dash near the steering column, then turn the key on for about 5-10 seconds, and then turn it back to off. Remove the paper clip. Set the parking brake, and make sure everything is turned off, radio, heater, everything. Then start the car and do not touch anything. Let it idle until you hear the cooling fan come on and then go off. Then turn the ignition off. Process complete. If this has no effect on the cars idle, it's time to replace the idle air control valve and clean the passages in the throttle body. As a side note, you really don't want to have to replace the fuel pump, That involves removing the rear-end and the exhaust system from the car, your fuel tank is located above those assemblies.

While I am idling at say a stop light for any period of time the car every so often seems to have a rough surge somewhere under the hood. Could that be the fan kicking on causing that or is there something...

IF THIS IS A V6 ENGINE IT COULD BE ANYTHING, BUT YOU MUST CHECK ALL EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT, VACUUM LINES, CLEAN IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE AND AND ESPECIALLY TEST AND CLEAN THE EGR VALVE AND TEST MAP SENSOR,AND OTHERS-FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PRESSURE, INJECTORS, ETC..(all fuel related stuff)
NO, NOT AN EASY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.
IF IT'S A V8 CHECK OUT THIS WEB PAGE.

How to reset fuel pump on 1999 honda accord a/t?, after a repair on fuel pump car idling is poor and seems like to stall if gas pedal is pressed.

I replaced the pump on my 1999 Accord EX V6 and didn't have to reset a thing. The only problem is that the low fuel light doesn't come on every time it should. The poor idling sounds like a different problem like your TPS or the IAC solenoids. Have your local parts store pull codes for you for free if you have a check engine light on.

1998 3800 v6 firebird... wont run right after starting

Possibly a weak fuel pump, idle air control valve, vacuum leaks, or loose or damaged wiring in the ignition system. Check for vacuum leaks first. That's the only one that won't cost anything. Make sure all intake bolts are tight, and all hoses are connected properly and in good condition.
