Do you have enough fuel pressure? Maybe your fuel pump is shot.

05 CLK500 sometimes will start & run & sometimes not start but crank. Now just cranks no start. Got crankshaft sensor & cam. Code reader no connection to get codes. Is this a computer issue? Help.

Hi Dawn,
It can be hard to diagnose without more information, but...

The first thing I'd look at on the code reader not connecting would be to make sure the fuses are good. I had that issue with an E500 a couple of weeks back and that was the problem. I believe it was one of the auxiliary fuses that had blown.

The Crankshaft Sensor is a common place to start, although normally that prevents cranking as well, but is a common source of intermittent starting. A common problem if it is cranking but not starting might be a fuel pump issue. Another place I might look would be the plugs and coils to make sure everything was in line there. The last area would be to ensure that all the vacuum hoses are in place to ensure that if it turns over it will stay running. Before I'd jump to a computer issue, I'd make sure the basics are in place, Spark, Fuel and Air.

Replacing a crankshaft sensor

get the new sensor then you know what your looking for and how it fits etc, the crank sensor is located at the gearbox end of the engine it will be bolted/screwed to the end of engine block immediately over middle of gearbox with a wire connector coming from it you should be able to change this part without removing anything else but to give yourself a better view removing the air filter assembly is not very hard at all and will give you a bit more room if you think you need it after locating the crank sensor

check wire harnes see if the 01 powers the 05 the same termail
01 senor and pack may have to go back

Hi my 2001 mazda mpv started staling when come to a stop and had very low rpms when idleing. I ran a obd2 test and the idle air control came up and crankshaft position sensor. I changed IAC with new one,...

After I visited the website named "MPVclub.com," I read an article there that shows the crank position sensor to be located on the right side of the motor buy the crank pulley. You can't miss it, it is right in between the crank pulley and the a/c compressor. Go to www.MPVclub.com, then go to forums, which is on the left hand side of the page, go to 00-06 MPVproblems, go to page 2 and go to the bottom of the page to "PO335 Crankshaft position sensor Replacement, you will see the comments and some pics that will guide you to it.
Hope this helps.
