With intermittent issues, have to test when problem is ongoing. Check for voltage and ground at the fuel pump, engine cranking. I'm talking about the pump, not the gage. Pink wire with black tracer is voltage, black is ground.

Yes, there should be an initial prime when you first turn key on, but, it doesn't last long. You can also check inertia switch.

The fuel pump is suspect but I believe there's also a fuel filter inline on the underside of the drivers side chassis. Fuel works off pressure so if the filter is clogged, the pressure remains between the fuel tank and the filter. Once the fuel has siphoned off between the filter and injectors, it dies but because there's positive pressure at the fuel pump, it won't come on until the pressure slowly seeps past the clog after hours. It's worth a look!

It won't crank up and it sat up 2 years

No gas, plugged fuel filter? Turn on the key but don't crank engine, listen with door open towards gas tank. You should hear a click and a slight motor pump noise for a couple seconds. If not then your sending unit failed.

Turns over acts like it string to start just doesn't

Try pushing the automatic fuel shut off button located on the left side of the steering wheel or in the glove compartment If that doesnt work then you should make sure the fuel pump is pumping fuel by listening for it to power on when you turn your ignition key

Possible fuel pump. Check the fuel pump pressure;or remove the air intake hose from the throttle body.spray some gas with a squirt bottle in thratle body. replace the intake hose and crank it; if it turns on, your pump is bad.

We've replaced one fuel pump in May 2008, now the same thing is happening.

it maybe you are getting the wrong fuel pump from the parts store and that is the problem i just replace the fuel pump in my daughter Ford Explorer in 2008 and again about a mouth ago it had a bent gas line and it was causing the fuel pump to work hard give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your van wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

on 91 Aerostars there was a fuel pump relay on the drivers side that was causing the problem similar to yours and this is how I fixed it:
replace the fuel pump relay on the driver side under the hood

My 1998 ford explore stop running!

Try rapping your started with a hammer a couple of times. It sounds to me you are having starter problems, not you fuel pump. If this works it may be only tempory and your starter may "freeze up" again. If so, you are probably in need of a new starter.

Fuel System

is your check engine light on? you may have a missfire meaning either a bad plug, plug wire or coil pack. if the engine light is not on, you may want to try changing your fuel filter, or possibly your fuel pump filters/ the pump its self.
