There are two fuses in the under hood fuse / relay box. cool fan 1 and cool fan 2 , both are 30 amp. test these first . There are also three relays which are given a ground by the PCM .
The engine cooling fan system consists of 2 electrical cooling fans and 3 fan relays. The relays are arranged in a series/parallel configuration that allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to operate both fans together at low or high speeds. The cooling fans and fan relays receive battery positive voltage from the underhood junction block. The ground path is provided at G117.
During low speed operation, the PCM supplies the ground path for the low speed fan relay through the low speed cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the cooling fan 1 relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and supplies battery positive voltage from the cool fan 1 maxifuse® through the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the left cooling fan. The ground path for the left cooling fan is through the cooling fan relay and the right cooling fan. The result is a series circuit with both fans running at low speed.
During high speed operation the PCM supplies the ground path for the cooling fan 1 relay through the low speed cooling fan relay control circuit. After a 3-second delay, the PCM supplies a ground path for the cooling fan 2 relay and the cooling fan relay through the high speed cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the cooling fan relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and provides a ground path for the left cooling fan. At the same time the cooling fan 2 relay coil is energized closing the relay contacts and provides battery positive voltage from the cool fan 2 maxifuse® on the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the right cooling fan. During high speed fan operation, both engine cooling fans have there own ground path. The result is a parallel circuit with both fans running at high speed.
It would help if you had access to scan tool with bidirectional control to see if you could turn them on that way. you could jump power directly to fan's to see if they work. How to test relay

Are you talking about the radiator fan? How hot does the engine get in degrees F? Some makes and models, the radiator fan won't turn on till about 220 degrees F. Check for applicable trouble codes, see if any code that refers to the radiator fan circuit or coolant temp sensor? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free.

Of course, as far as overheating in general, you have the thermostat--water pump and other possible issues. Are you losing coolant?

My 2001 chevrolet venture minivan is over heating. Its got a fairly new water pump replaced in jan of this year, and i replaced a busted heater core hose. Then filled radiator back up with water and...

Is the vehicle really over heating would be the first thing to address . If this vehicle was brought to the chevy dealership I work at , hooking up the factory scan tool to see what the PCM - engine computer is seeing for coolant temp . Too see if the cooling fans work , too see what temp info . the PCM is sending to the instrument cluster . I know GM had stepper motor problems in the instrument cluster . The step motor is what makes the temp , fuel , speedo , tach , gauges needles move . Just replaced a cluster in a 2005 chevy cavalier , temp. gauge goes full hot after just starting the vehicle . The cooling fans should kick on at around 223 degress , do the cooling fans come on ? Given the amount of electronics on these vehicles , it maybe best to take it to a qualified repair shop . That knows how to test these systems . Without testing I would only be guessing as to what could be wrong , Unless your prepaired to replace a bunch of parts , because your going to get a lot of different cause's from on here . Testing is the proper way to finding the problem . If you don't have a scan tool to view engine sensor data parameters , temp sensor. At harbor freight they sell a Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer With Laser Targeting. This will show what the temp is .

Radiator cooling van will not shut off

Some cooling fans are thermostatically controlled. If the fan runs continually even after the engine has been shut off for some time the control switch should be checked for operation

Van is over heating What can I do to fix it

first you let it cool down then you check the radiator fluid level if low add to it, then you.run it until it reaches 195 degrees check to see if the fan is working, if not try turning on ac now check see if the fan is working, if so you have a ground problem to the electric fan but if the fan was working than you have to change the thermostat,if after this it still overheats it will be your head gaskets are bad.

1997 venture van. Fan for heat and A/C not working

Check the fuse and then the switch it self, if the fuse and switch is good. Then check the blower resistor and blower motor it self. I'm leaning towards the switch it self since you mentioned that it was sporadically and on the highest setting would by pass the blower resistors. Good luck and if it's not the switch then it's going to be the blower motor it self. Auto Zone has them in stock and can give you the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Venture Minivan...i need to find the altenator and starter. Where are they located?

The starter is under the oil filter towards the front of the van and the alternator is at the top right front of the engine on passenger side. Just follow the serpentine belt and it's way to the back on the passenger side. Good luck and hope this helps, if your gong to have to replace the alternator. Make sure your have lots of time and experience to working on cars, to access the alternator you have to disconnect the front engine mounts and rotate the engine forward to get enough room. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posed, be glad to help
