I never recommend throwing parts at a problem until it goes away, because it rarely does. You seem to have already replaced everything in the circuit EXCEPT THE FUSE (and the wiring.) If the fuse is blown, replace it. If not, then you will have to check the wiring and find out where you are losing power. You'll need a detailed wiring diagram and a test light. Start at the fuse, then check for power at the relay. If you have power at the fuse, but not the relay, you know the problem lies somewhere in between. If you have power at the fuse and the relay, but not the fans, then the problem is between the relay and the fans, and so on. Make sure you are checking the correct temperature switch for the fans, it it not the same as the sensor for the gauge.

They will not come on when they are unplugged. You need to check at your relay base and make sure you have 12v supply power and are getting your signal power from the temp switch.

How can I check it what I need to do that

A test light. You make sure you have a good ground to clamp onto and then probe the base where the relay plugs into, you might need a small piece of wire to get to the contacts of the relay base if your test light is too fat. You should have constant 12v power to one of the contacts and then you should get 12v to another of the contacts when the engine is at operating temperature and the temp switch calls for the fan to come on. You can also probe the contacts at the temperature switch and make sure you have voltage to it and that at temperature you have voltage through it.

SOURCE: Cooling fan wont work

The water temp sensor is located near the thermostat housing. This sensor is what tells the ECM to turn the fan on/off. The water temp sending unit is located near the same area. You know you have the correct sensor is because the water temp sensor has a 2 prong plug. The water temp sending unit only has 1 prong.

Have a shop test for exhaust gases in the coolant. Pretty simple test-shouldn't be very expensive. Exhaust in the coolant is a bad head gasket, one cause of overheating. Fluid level is full, and no loss of coolant?

Its either t Cooling Fan Switch ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Inspect/Test/Replace

To find the RADIATOR COOLING FAN MOTOR RELAY, we need additional information about your 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L SFI DOHC 8cyl.
Please select one of the following:

The Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay is located: Under hood, passenger side, upper firewall, mounted in corner in relay block
When testing a cooling fan switch, first test it with the engine cold, then test it when the engine reaches a specified temperature. Check your vehicle's service manual for more directions.
To check a switch, disconnect the connector at the switch. with an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the terminals of the switch with the switch moved to the on position and to the off position.

To find the RADIATOR COOLING FAN MOTOR RELAY, we need additional information about your 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L SFI DOHC 8cyl.
Please select one of the following:

The Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay is located: Under hood, passenger side, front side of wheelwell, mounted in relay panel
The continuity through a switch can be checked with an ohmmeter. With the switch open, there should be infinite resistance. With the switch closed, there should be zero resistance. With the switch off, there should be no continuity between the terminals. With the switch on, there should be good continuity between the terminals. If the switch is activated by something mechanical and doesn't complete the circuit when it should, check the adjustment of the switch. (Some switches are not adjustable.) If the adjustment is correct, replace the switch. Another way to check a switch is to simply bypass it with a jumper wire. If the component works when the switch is jumped, a bad switch is indicated.
Voltage drop across switches should also be checked. Ideally, when the switch is closed there should be no voltage drop. Any voltage drop indicates resistance and the switch should be replaced.

Engine fan won't come on

IF COOLANT FAN FUSE AND RELAY OKAY.HOT WIRE COOLANT FAN TO SEE IF FAN MOTOR OKAY.IF FAN MOTOR OKAY.THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR MORE LIKELY BAD.THE ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR WHEN ENGINE COOLANT GETS HOT IT CAUSES ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE TO DECREASE CAUSE COMPLETE CIRCUIT IN WHICH POWER FROM PCM TO ECT SENSOR WILL SENT POWER TO COOLANT FAN RELAY THEN CAUSE COOLANT FAN TO TURN ON. HAVE ECT SENSOR OR ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK USING CODE SCANNER TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING BEFORE SPENDING EXCESS MONEY.

Where is the cooling fan control switch on the 1997 olds aurora V-8?

There isn't one. The computer uses the engine coolant temperature sensor for both fuel delivery data and fan activation. If you turn on the A/C or pull the coolant temp sensor connector off while the engine is running, the fan(s) should come on. If not, you may have a bad relay or fan motor.

Whar is the temperature sending unit on a 1997

Will the fan come on if you turn on the AC. This will confirm the fan relay and the computer are ok. If it still does not come on then the problem is not the temp sensor. If the car never gets hot enough the fan will not come on on its own. This would indicate a stuck open thermostat. The temp sensor should be located next to the thermostat housing. Follow the big hose on top of the radiator.

Relay, switch, fuse or the motor is bad. Check fuse first, then relay, then switch. If all that fails, try the blower motor
