Fuel pump is most likely the cause. Probably just barely making the required pressure to start. Needs to maintain 60-66 psi while cranking to start.

Its sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is bad locate the regulator on the fuel rail and remove the vacuum hose if there is fuel there its bad if not have some one turn the key on or crank the engine if fuel come out its bad. What seems to be happing when it sit for some time the regulaor leaks fuel by into the engine when you go to start it its just that its flooded out plus when you turn the key on and are trying to start it its now dumping even more fuel into the engine. When you remove the relay and crank it there is no fule going to the engine thus making it start.

Chevy Trucks, Blazers, S10 pickup and the like will vapor lock ecspecially the 2000 models. Do not tighten the gas cap past 1 click. There is a tube that runs from the top of the tank down and this gets hot and collapses or burns in half. We just bought a reinforced rubber tube cut it to lengh and use it instead of part and it's worked grat for 2 years so far.

Replace the switch.Yes they can be faulty. If that doesn't solve the problem then your fuel pump is causing it to trip out.change the fuel pump.good luck.
