Transmission filter

as long as fluid is changed it is up to you! if no problems, it is not necessary to change filter. but if shift problems change filter as well as the fluid.

I assume you mean the cabin air filter. The engine air filter is easy, assuming you've changed one on any other car before (hint: it's a box with some clips on the right side). The cabin air filter is a bit more involved, see below.

22,500 miles (36 000km) or at 18 months

My daughter tells me that the mechanic at a garage in town tells her that the OIL FILTER doesn't have to be changed.Is that correct???

If it has an oil filter that can be removed, then it has to be changed at least every other oil change. Better repace with every oil change. Some modern cars as some european sedans (bmw and mercedes) as well as some fancy corvettes and probably vipers, do not have external oil filters and do not even have a dipstick. On this cars, the oil is special to be changed every 30 top 50 thousand miles, but even on this vehicles, there is an internal oil filter that also has to be replaced.
