Where's the radiator flush valve in the 2000 cadillac cater?

Dont flush untill you have removed the heater control valve because it has a piston and diaphragm setup vacuum on the line will cause the diaphragm to expand and not close causing the valve and hose to fail no matter how tight you clamp it. heater control valve is located at rear of engine bay passenger side near heater core hoses.

Is there freezeout plugs between motor and trans?

Hello: The are no freeze plugs at rear of engine. If you have a coolant leak at the rear of the engine it may be coming from the heater control valve mounted at the rear top of the engine. Very difficult to get to. The valve is made of plastic and it was/is a high failure item. The wiper blades have to come off, the shield over the passenger side. You can see the valve if you raise the car up and look up on the passenger side or you can slip your hand back to the valve and see if its wet. Wish I could be of more help.

Coolant leaking, apparently at heater core where

You could but it is a tricky job as you need to take a good part of the dash apart. I wouldn't bring it to the dealer unless you have cash to burn. The part will probably be a couple hundred and then 3-4 hours labor or so. Probable plan $600 or so.

I own a 98 cadillac catera and

First check for any leakage from your radiator, hoses or overflow tank.

If it were a freeze plug you'd not be able to miss the puddling spillage. Where if it were a head gasket the coolant and fuel / oil would mix and you'd be driving a mobile smoke generator { very noticeable while smoke }

If you can't see the leak take it in for a coolant system pressure test. Which will pinpoint where your vehicle is losing coolant.

Coolant leak

you will need to start the car and if you cannot see where it is leaking from try using a mirror to see in behind the engine as it could be leaking from a numbe of places, such as a hose, a head gasket, a frost plug. hint that a head gasket will usually cause the vehicle to release white smoke out of the exhaust pipe. I hope that this helps and that you take the time to rate this site, Good luck.

Car leaking coolant

First of all ensure that your car is leaking coolant fluid, and what is dripping is not just water condensation from the air conditioner.
If you have a coolant liquid leak, it can be from one of the ducts leading to radiator , from water pump or radiator itself. Check liquid levels, and if you have a leak have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic.
A broken water pump, for example, can cause your motor to blow in few miles.
