Windshield Wiper Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies power to the multifunction switch from the SJB fuse 25 (20A) when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position. The multifunction switch supplies power to the windshield wiper motor for the HIGH or LOW/INTERMITTENT input, depending on the multifunction switch position selected. The SJB also supplies power directly to the windshield wiper motor from fuse 25 (20A) when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position for RUN/PARK operation. When the multifunction switch is in the LOW, HIGH, or INTERMITTENT position, power is supplied to the windshield wiper motor, which moves the wipers off the park position. Once the wipers are off the park position, an internal switch in the windshield wiper motor switches to the run/park position which directs power to the wiper switch then back to the wiper motor. This maintains power to the windshield wiper motor to complete the wipe cycle. When the cycle is complete, the internal switch in the windshield wiper motor switches back to the park position. If the multifunction switch is in the LOW or HIGH position, power is supplied from the multifunction switch and another wipe cycle starts. If the multifunction switch is in the INTERMITTENT position, the windshield wipers remain parked until the internal relay in the multifunction switch supplies power to the windshield wiper motor. The internal relay supplies power after a time delay that is determined by the 1 of 9 intermittent switch settings.

Why,is it my intermittent wipers don't work


The problem will be either a bad switch [bad switch contacts for the intermittent position] or a bad W/S wiper control module. You can test the switch by unplugging it and using an ohm meter to check it. Unfortunately for you, on this car, the control module is built into the wiper motor, so if the switch tests OK, you will need to replace the wiper motor/control module assembly.

Windshield wipers


Would need to scan vehicle to insure the wiper speeds are controlled by the General Module or a wiper intermittent relay....if relay...would locate and replace...if general module.....a reprogram or software update could be in order...possibly replacement.

When i go and start my jeep, wipers come on and the only way to turn them of is pull the positive terminal of the battery to reset the computer


pull wiper fuse
there is only 3 ways for this to happend
the combo (steering) wiper switch bad stuck closed
the wires from above to wiper motor damaged.
the wiper motor assembly bad.

the wiper has this internal magic switch.
inside
if that switch fails( ive fixed many) it can allow the motor to keep going forever.

now 1 more. Intermittent wipers, this module to can fail.

there is no reason to guess. its all in the manual if choose to read it.

What relays are there for the intermittent wipers and where are they located on a 1999 Ford Taurus?


the intermitent works off of the (gem) generic electronic module which controls the wipers. if wipers working except the delay cycle replace the module. the relays are located in the engine compartment . wiper park relay- wiper hi-lo relay- washer motor relay. fuse in fuse panel under driver side dash panel.

Wipers will not turn off. Run at same speed regardless till ignition is turned off. No difference in intermittant time positions but will go to max speed if selected.


it needs the wiper module . 100% it is located behind the cover on the wiper motor itself. Remove 4 torx screws, pop off the black 4"x4" cover and pull the module out.very easy fix! Wiper motor is located just to the left of the brake master cyl.

Wipers will not work on low spped or intermittant


check out autozone.com. You have to register for a membership (free) but then you will be able to use any of their vehicle repair guides. I had a similar problem with a 1996 Jimmy that ended up being the wiper control module (~$30). The module is housed with the wiper motor, under a plastic cover. The motor should be located, under the hood, on the firewall, very near to one of the wiper arms. Simply, unplug the wiring harness to the motor and remove the 3 or 4 screws that hold the cover on and pull the circuit board straight out and replace it.

1997 Silverado 2500HD. The connection to the wiper motor becomes loose causing the wipers to intermittently. The motor is fine, the connection is the problem. Is there anything I can do without replacing...


This is your wiper control module that is causling the issue. This is located on the motor and only two screws are holding it in place. Remove the screws, pull the module off and replace the module. It should take ten minutes once you have the new module. Hope this helps.

Wipers won't stop wiping.


Sounds like your intermittent wiper circuit is defective. Normally the intermittent feature is engaged by one of the functions on the multi-function switch (usually on the steering column). The circuit of the intermittent wiper periodically activates a relay that closes across the "Wiper On" switch. Your intermittent wiper circuit is likely defective and holding its relay closed (or the relay is stuck closed), thereby keeping the wipers on. Note: The wiper motor has an internal switch that opens when the wipers are in the park position and that is designerd to stop the wipers in the park position. When you turn on the wipers (or the intermittent relay is closed), the motor's internal switch is shunted such that the wiper does not stop at the park point of the cycle.

Rear wiper stopped working


my 2004 expedition had same problem, if you take apart the shaft that goes thru the glass it will be full of dirt, clean ,lubricate and reinstall, you may have to replace the O-ring on the shaft. a 20 minute job, very easy fix
