How to disarm the anti theft system on an 05 CTS Cadilac

Changed old, dead battery for a new battery, anti theft will not allow the car to start. I have turned the key to the run position for ten minutes, then off position for 5 seconds, then on for ten min. then off for 5 seconds. I did this three times in a row. The anti theft will not release the system so the car can be started.

A reset is ten minutes on and 30 seconds off. One time. Relearn is three times this. Older vehicles used to be 5 to 10 seconds off. now is 30. There are minimal times on and off, but I haven't found the maximum time. I have left cars on for 30 minutes and off for 30 minutes and the reset/relearn has still worked. Just a note , the securit relearns in the off position.

  • do you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to on position? have someone use a multi meter as you crank key to attempt to start have them test if there is a value on meter showing if not this means either your relay is bad or more likely the tiny wires in the ingnition broke and the signal is not being relayed to the starter that the correct key is inserted. you can bypass this i did it myself on my cadi. look up "how to bypass vatts security" on you tube. sometimes you must simply wait 7 minutes before trying again. best thing to do is test starter before turning key and then as the key is trying to start

I changed the starter with new as old one was not turning. After replacing new starter my truck does not crank and start, Please help me to start my Truck. Anti theft light is blinking all the time.

You solved your own problem.
The anti-theft system is probably keeping it from starting.
Get the system checked out and you may find the problem is the chip in the key.

I have 2004 cts cadilac it will crank but wont start what can i do to solve the problem

check for spark at the plugs then check for fuel supply like fuel pressure with a gage. then make sure that the anti-theft system is not activated which would be the first thing to check.

Changed out original battery. reconnect shows tiny sparking. everything works. no bad fuses. will not turn over. thanks

It's possible the sudden loss of power (removing old battery) has triggered the anti theft system. Try using your key and physically unlocking the driver's door. In most cases, this will disarm the anti theft system.

Car won't start.Theft light blinks, clicking sound under hood and thumping like horn wants to go off.Seems like it's stuck in anti theft mode

anti theft light should blink every few seconds.

try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes.

Anti-Theft-Perimeter The perimeter anti-theft system consists of the following components:
  • anti-theft indicator (THEFT)
  • remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module
  • hood switch
  • keyless entry remote transmitter
  • deck lid ajar switch
NOTE: The remote entry features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.
Up to four keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) can be programmed at one time.
The keyless entry remote transmitters :
  • Are programmable.
  • Must be set at the same time.
  • House four buttons.
  • House three buttons (Mexico Anti-Theft System only).
Programming
Refer to Section 501-14B.
Inputs and Outputs
The remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module receives input from the following components for anti-theft operation:
  • Hood switch.
  • Deck lid ajar switch.
  • Keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Power door lock switches (LH and RH).
  • Door courtesy input.
The RAP module distributes output to the following for the anti-theft system:
  • Power door unlock relay.
  • Power door lock relay.
  • Liftgate unlock relay (Wagon)
  • Park lamps relay.
  • HORN relay.
  • Dome lamp.
  • THEFT indicator.
  • Deck lid release.
Arming
The anti-theft system can be armed if:
  • The ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  • The panic alarm is off.
  • All doors are closed.
NOTE: If a door is open, the anti-theft system is prearmed and waiting for all the doors to be closed. The THEFT indicator will remain illuminated for up to 30 minutes waiting for all the doors to be closed. If a door remains open after 30 minutes, the THEFT indicator will turn off and the system will return to a disarmed state. After all doors are closed and the 30 second prearm (continuous THEFT indicator illumination) is complete, the system is armed.
NOTE: If the theft LED does not flash after 30 seconds, check the LED FLASH PID to see if the feature is enabled.
The anti-theft system will be armed when the lock button on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed, all doors are closed and 30 seconds have elapsed.
When the system is armed, the THEFT indicator will flash quickly until the system is triggered or disarmed.
Disarming
NOTE: Using a key in a door lock cylinder to unlock is not a valid method of disarming the anti-theft system.
Untriggered System
NOTE: If the driver arms the system and remains in the vehicle, an untriggered system can be disarmed by turning the ignition switch to the ON position.
An untriggered alarm system can be disarmed by pressing the unlock button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
Triggered System
NOTE: If the hood or trunk are open when the system is armed, it must be closed and opened again before it can trigger an alarm.
An armed anti-theft system can be triggered by the following conditions:
The deck lid door, liftgate, hood or any door is opened using a key, inside door handle, hood release, etc.
  • The keyless entry remote transmitter can activate a panic alarm which is similar to the anti-theft alarm, but does not cause the THEFT indicator to flash.
A triggered alarm system can be disarmed by:
  • Pressing the unlock or panic button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • Turning the ignition switch to the ON position.
Alarm State When Battery Power Is Cycled
When the RAP module is supplied power the first time at the vehicle assembly plant, the system will be in the disarmed state. The RAP module will remember whether it is armed, disarmed or triggered in its non-volatile memory. When the battery positive cable is removed and then reconnected, the system will return to the state it was in just before the battery was disconnected. If the system is in any prearm state, then the system will return to a disarmed state when the battery is disconnected and then reconnected.

I changed my battery in my ford focus then when I put the new one in my antitheft light came on and it won't let me start my car.

Disarming a Triggered System
Carrying out either of the following steps will disarm the triggered anti - theft system.
  • Driver or passenger front door is unlocked with a key.
  • Pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.
When the system has been triggered, the anti - theft horn will shut off automatically after 30 seconds and the turn signal lamps will shut off automatically after 5 minutes. The system will then reset to an armed state and will trigger again if another intrusion occurs.

1996 Nissan Maxima - unlock car, anti theft alarm went off and car won't start. Got new battery, battery was dead, put in new battery, anti theft alarm still going off and car won't start. Please help

If the antitheft system is armed and isn't recognizing the key for starting, the dealer should be the next place it should be towed for reprogramming the key to the computer.

Battery went dead now the alarm will not let the car start on star said car had to be towed

Unfortunately this is an anti-theft feature that GM uses in most of their modern cars. It started out in their radios and has since expanded to their ignition systems. Once the car loses power completely, anti-theft measures kick in and, like On* said, the car will not start without first being looked at by a dealer. Sorry to hear that. :( Best of luck!

Disarm anti-theft system

two things u can try to reset the system, in stall a brand new battery, (this time and any other time u jump start your car, or any other, make double sure the ignition is in the off position), im just assuming it was on by your problem, this will make a p.c.m. do crazy things. and leave both battery cables off the new battery for at least 10-15 mins. then connect the neg. first, then the positive, some times this will reset the p.c.m.! if not its the dealer most of the time, even if u replace the p.c.m.! although u can find them on line and the seller can program theirs for your car, find a good rep one. good luck to u,hope we helped!

Anti-theft system seems to have been activated?

Some months ago I began starting the engine of my 2001 Chrysler 300M but turned it of before it really started "was sloppy with the key". The anti-theft system went on for some unknown reason. I disarmed it by disconnecting one of the battery connections under the hood with a wrench. I connected it again, the anti-theft system was off but the battery was dead. Battery was OK after recharging, I have had no trouble since then.
