Hi mark prickett, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge installed to verify this? or is this what you "think" is happening?

Replace the fuel filter first. Then the pump. Could possibly be the fuel regulator, but they usually work with good pressure or they are low all the time. Also smell for gas at the vacuum tube of the regulator. Telling you that the diaphragm is bad.

Hi i have a 1995 nissan sentra b14 thats giving me trouble. Whenever i accelerate the car looses power and also will cut out if im in traffic or at a stop light. Help anyone?

It sounds like a fueling problem, so the first thing to do is to check the fuel pressure. That is very critical for fuel injection, as the injectors can only spray fuel out if they are immersed in fuel under high pressure. If multi-port injection, the pressure is higher than throttle body injection. I don't know the specs for Nissan, but multi-port is usually around 40psi or higher. So check fuel pressure, autozone rents or loans those pressure gauges, check your fuel filter (is it clean?).
If not a fueling problem, could be a restricted air supply to the engine. Also make sure the exhaust is not clogged, like a catalytic converter that is breaking up.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 86 4wd (22re)

You're going to laugh when you hear this...not! It's under the intake manifold, bolted to the side of the engine block. It's a real pain to do.

A carburetor type engine has the pump on the engine near the front on the side--trace the fuel line down. Fuel injected engines have the pump located in the fuel tank.
