There are several things to check. Fuel pressure and flow, remove the fuel return line on the fuel rail, turn on ignition if fuel flows system is ok . Check valve and ignition timing by removing timing belt cover , make sure timing marks line up, if ok check there is a good spark at the plugs. If all are ok it must stat.

Most Honda car prior to the mid 80s. do not have a separate fuel filter. filtration is achieved at the fuel pump in gas tank via a sock filter on fuel pump inlet.. so if the fuel problem is starvation you go for the term fuel pump module..consist of fuel pump evaporated purge and low gas level.full level and the sock

If I had to put money on it, I'd say you broke the timing belt. Depending on whether if its a 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder will affect how much to repair. Generally, the timing belt is replaced every 60-90 thousand miles on that model year. During replacement, the water pump is replaced at the same time as a preventative measure.

My question to you would be if you or anyone else has ever changed the timing belt, how many miles are on it, and if its a 4 cylinder or v6 engine. When a timing belt breaks, the valves stop moving (some in the down position) while the pistons continue to move up and down. Some motors are "interference" engines and some are "non-interference" engines. An interference engine is one where when the timing belt breaks, the crankshaft for a brief moment continues to rotate pushing the pistons up as the engine quits and can hit the valves that are in the down position. If I'm not mistaken, you're engine is non-interference. That's really good news for you.

Three ways to check: remove the timing belt cover and inspect for damage; line up the timing mark on the crankshaft to Top Dead Center (TDC) and check the camshaft timing mark; or check each cylinder for compression. Any of these ways will indicate a broken timing belt. Note: sometimes the belt can skip a tooth after stretching so it "may" look ok under visual inspection. Lining up the timing marks and checking compression is the best way to know for sure.

Good luck,
JM

Forgot to mention.....the reason I went throught the above explanation was the fact that it happened on the freeway. The other epxlanatons here concerning ignition and fuel are possible but my experience with Hondas point toward the timing belt. Let us know what you find and good luck. JM

Sounds like it could be the ignition switch, distributor or the PCIM relay.

It's not the filter. But replace it anyway. I would look more toward the ignition. Crank sensor, coils, and lose of power to them. Have the codes read.

Hello I just bought a 92 accord Lx 5 speed. first i found out my fuel gauge gives me wrong reading it says is 1/4 full when is empty. my second problem is when I'm around 1/4 tank full the car shuts off...

I dont know why car shuts off when the tank is 1/4 full. Try replacing fuel filter first then maybe fuel pump. I think you probably have a stuck fuel sending unit. Here is a video of the location of the fuel sending unit.

Weather is starting to get cold... I have a 1992 Honda Accord EX and it has recently started dying when doing normal driving. Random times of the day, parked or going 45. Car doesent lose electrical power,...

Heet will not fix a bad fuel filter. See if it is bad and replace it if it is. the fuel filter is on the passenger side engine wall at the rear of the engine compartment. It looks about the size of an oil filter with a steel band around the center that secures it to the firewall.

94 honda accord turns off when i come to a stop.

Sounds like the fuel supply pipe inside the fuel tank has hole that's why if the fuel level is about 1/4 and the pipe hole is not completely soak in the fuel, the fuel pump will sucks air instead of fuel and this can cause of lack of power first until the engine shut off but if your problem is sudden shut off without other symptoms like lack of power or engine rough running first before engine shutting off, most probably it was electical problem.
