I'm not 100% sure but a misfire is when a cylinder isn't firing properly. If this is an automobile and fuel injected there can be different causes. These are just a few, bad injector on those cylinder, a bad coil if it has individual coils, bad valves inside the cylinder head, faulty spark plug wires, bad spark plugs, and many more.
