Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

2001 Suzuki Esteem wagon develops a loud vibrating noise when the engine is under load. When pulling up to a stop light, the noise is quite loud even at full stop. Switching from drive to neutral stops the noise. It is an intermittent problem, rarely happening while driving in the city. It appears to be coming from under the hood on the drivers side. Both axles are new, and the motor mounts have been replaced. The car has 71000 miles on it. Auto transmission shifts smoothly, with no slipping. Tires are in great shape. This is a fairly loud noise, not so much a vibration. Any thoughts? Thank you.

It sounds as if the mounts or trans/engine mounting hardware is becoming loose...Unless the engine is out of timing and running rough ....Take it to the tech that repaired the mounts and have them inspect their work.......

SOURCE: Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.

SOURCE: 2007 Mazda CX-9 has recently developed a front end

Try to rev the engine while at neutral if you get the same vibration to pinpoint if its from the engine or the drive shafts. If the issue occurs at a certain rev it may likely be the variable valve unit. Check if possible if you can get errors from the computer.
