Check and make sure your Transmission fluid levels are on the correct markings on dipstick make sure your car is running and check then check hot the dipstick (It should be up to the full mark on the hot reading if this does not fix it check your linkage and make sure it hasn't got loose there for it will not shift right if it came out of adjustment....

Check the sensors on the transmission. May just be corrosion on the sensors or it may be a faulty sensor. Also, the torque converter bearing may have went bad due to the running it on low transmission fluid.

Auto transmission will not shift out of first

The first thing is to check the auto trans fluid level, with the engine idling. If it is low, top it up, but if very dark or burned smelling, renew it altogether.

I have a 1995 Isuzu trooper with auto transmission. when you take off, depending on how much throttle you give it, it will shutter but then it will shift up fine once you are going is this a transmission...

Actually could be a problem with your voltage regulator in your alternator. If it has become defective, you might notice your voltmeter reading more than 14 volts. This messes with the electronic shifting of your transmission, and the car tries to start out at the wrong gear.

Take it to Autozone, they will test it for free.

1988 Chevrolet, K1500. Three speed auto transmission. Sometimes fails to shift from low to second gear. Only does is sometimes.

You might have a sticking shift solenoid. You could try changing the fluid and transmission filter. Note the color and smell of the transmission and if anything is in the pan.

Engine speed hunts on idle. Auto trans slow shift.

The fast idle valve is inside the throttle body. Sometimes it backs out and needs turned back in (it's threaded). This will cause the loping idle.

Get transmission filter changed with new fluid. Honda does not recommend transmission flushing.

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..
