Question about Cars & Trucks
There are no sleeves..On these there are 2 connectors. In the connectors there are O rings/seals. what hold the connectors to the fuel rail are clips. To date, I can replace the O rings(just match them up) The connectors and the clips, good luck... I had to replace the fuel lines, from the manufacturer to fix them. Some times from the auto store, but not much. Usually wrong parts.

They're called quick disconnects you can buy them at your Chevy dealer or your local auto parts store

do you get check engine codes?..have you done a leak down test and compression test to determine mechanical engine health?

I would check to be on the safe side the fuel filter is going in the right direction. The arrow is pointing towards the engine away from the fuel tank, Then you need to make sure the fuel pump wiring connections are good contact and did not come loose when driving.

SOURCE: white smoke and a smell of fuel
The white smoke is from anti freeze. The smell of gas in your oil is probably from the same cause. I do beleive you did not clean the milled ares good enough before installing one or both of your gaskets. Just in case you did loosen one of the head bolts up for any reason....One bolt I do beleive on the right front bank of this engine has to be also sealed before re enstalling it for coolant will pass through it if not sealed

I did this job on my 3.1 about 2 months ago and i forgot to put the ("O") ring on back fuel rail. had a fuel mess!! had to tear down plenum to fix, in my case i lost the o ring on rail and forgot to put 1 on. I had to order 1 from chevy garage, and replaced it. cost 9.00 just for 1 little o ring. mine fit tight also!! see if o ring is ok, and check line. car runs fine!!

Is the fuel in the valley right under the fuel pump? If so, your fuel pump might have failed and is leaking out of the weep hole.
Other places to look would be the fuel filter seal and a bad o-ring in the fuel drain relief valve.
