SOURCE: will a bad oxygen sensor cause my car not to start?

An o2 sensor won't cause a no start issue. I'm praying your anti-freeze mixture was correct that day though.

SOURCE: my 2000 eclipse wont start up all the way

I have the same problem on my 2002 Eclipse RS 2.4l 4 cylinder. Replaced the battery, starter, fuel pump(not at one time) . It started up when I had the starter put on as well the fuel pump. But everytime I started the car up it ran good till I turned it off the problem was still there. The car sounds like it wants to start but it sputters you can smell the gas so I know its getting fuel. it starts up fine with a cold start like in the morning.

Try getting a diagnostic thats what Im going to do next week.
good luck!!!

SOURCE: will a bad knock sensor cause a misfire. car is

A Bad Knock Sensor will not cause a misfire, unless the advance is off due to a faulty Knock Sensor. The O2 Sensor will cause a random misfire.

Good luck on this repair.

Car doesn't start after replacing both knock sensors

The car should start without the knock sensors, why would you change the knock sensors? They are a piezo quartz generator that rarely go bad. Usually other symptoms of engine faults produce a code that say there is a knock sensor problem. Back to the no start thing, maybe you may have caused a unrelated problem. Bad reconnection or something. Retract your steps to see if you did something wrong

Getting no spark. a recent code mentioned the crank sensor and o2 sensor. the o2 sensor was replaced and no new code has shown but it only ran once since then. would like to know where the crank sensor...

O2 sensor won't cause a no spark no start condition but the crank sensor will. most time bad crank sensor will not set a code if engine doesn't start. usually set code on o drop while driving. I would check connection at sensor if good then replace sensor.

How can i manually reset the computer on my 99 chevy silverado 1500 4x4? my oil pump is weak and it has a dry start and when i started it this mornin i think it kicked the knock sensor and shut my motor...

The knock sensor will not cause a no-start. The knock sensor only retards the timing when the engine is running. If the starter is not working we need to check the battery voltage, battery cables, starter, engine ground, neutral safety switch, ignition switch, security system. These are the only things that can cause a no crank.
If you really have the urge to clear your computer disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes.

I have a new battery on my van, and it wont start it tries to but can not crank, someone told me it was a wire where do i start looking?

This can actually be a complex problem due to the amount of things that can cause it. The vehicle is cranking but not starting. You first have to verify that you have fuel and spark. You also have a hei ignition system so you will want to make sure the wires are connected to the distributor. Mainly the rear two if one is not making contact you wont start.

If you haven't already to verify its not a fuel issue pour a small amount into the intake. If it starts you narrowed the problems down. It also has a crank sensor and a knock sensor. If the crank sensor or knock sensor is bad the vehicle will not start. Also check your fuses you may have inadvertantly blown the ignition or ecm/pcm fuses. 86 was a strange year for gm products. Some of their vehicles actually had 2 fuses for the ecm and if either were blown the vehicle wouldn't start.

Its hard to tell if you are saying it just wont start up or if the vehicle is not spinning at all. Hopefully this helps you narrow down the problem.

My 98 jeep backfires and stalls out while driving at normal speeds I have replaced exaust a number of times as well as computer have also changed crank sensor.the shop I take it to insists on telling me...

i had a similar problem with a 1998 grand cherokee 4.0 had a no start condition changed the crank sensor the car started idled fine no codes till you drive it then it was giving p0430 p0460 misfire cylinder 4 and 6 and ran rough no speed didnt make sense ran good before sensor went bad removed new crank sensor on the bottom it has a round cardboard glued to it so it does not go in all the way and get caught by the flywheel and break its for the air gap . paper says it will shear off when you start the car problem was it wouldnt let the sensor go in far enough for the proper air gap so when i re-installed the sensor the second time i held it in with left hand tightened the bolt with right hand started the car and it idled fine again but when i drove it it was fine and no codes

I have tested almost everything

If you have spark, the crank sensor is working. A bad knock sensor won't prevent the car from starting. It sounds like you don't have fuel going into the engine. The injectors will always have 12v to one side when the key is on. The computer switches the ground side to open and close the injectors. This happens ten times a second. If you have access to a test light, you can hook it up to the two wires from one of the injectors and crank the engine. The test light should blink on and off. If not, then something is not telling the ECM to work the injectors. The most likely cause is the ignition module in the distributor (or under the coil pack if you have Direct Ignition System). I serves two purposes. On is to trigger the ignition an create spark, the other is to trigger the ECM to work the injectors. That part of the module may have gone bad. As for the clooged exhaust, the car would still start for at least a few seconds. I don't think that is your problem.

1998 Pontiac firebird obd II code 0336 what causes this i have already changed crank shaft position sen.

Is the knock sensor pluged up?What engine is this?If the knock sensor is o k ,and not bad,and it is pluged up,then the code is telling you that the timming chain is out of sink. Most likely a half,or less out.A strian on the cam, could cause this, from a oil pump trying to freeze up.Or the timming chain needs to be changed out, along with all it`s components.I hope this was helpful, maybe not good news, but most likely the truth,Let us know if it was helpful if you would,If I can help, let me know.
