I just recently got my dads 1981 fxe harley and it is all in pieces and not everything is there so I was wondering if any had a ball park figure as to how much it would cost to pretty much rebuild it from the ground up

Don, do you have any photos, my dad is tryin to fix my 1996 960 volvo and can't find a diagram or schematic anywhere we found a kit, but my parking break is missing parts so he has no idea where the pieces go!!

on my 1981 corvette I changed my gear oil & in a parking did 8 figure 8s and the noise was gone

all crankshaft/block seals are 2 peice one peice is installed in block above cranksahaft then crankshaft installed 2nd peice is installed in oil pan oil pan then bolted to block to complete the seal same for front seal i really dont know how one would put a one peice seal on a crank look at a crank and let me know if you could figure that one out

$350 for the ball park , $500 for the shop.

there is a plastic rod under the t handle shifter
with five little balls, if you pull the handle up, you should see the white plastic rod pull it out and if there are only 4 balls on the rod then it is broken, you can use a piece of wood (like a chopstick) that will fit, cut to length and you should now be able to **** in to park and 1st

I have owned about 15 cars so far. ALL of the Chevy vehicles had developed problems with the ball joints / ball bearings. The most recent one was the one where I heard the rubbing noise. Unfortunately the front tire almost totally came off. It turned out to be the ball joints / ball bearings & the pinion. cost a couple thousand to fix. Get it checked. I saw another Chevy & that driver was NOT so lucky - their tire completely came off.

there is a shift lock over ride button located just to the left of the shifter u have to remove a small piece of plastic to pop out then push a ball point pen through the hole and push down this will unlock the shifter. check to see if your brake kights are working as these cars have a issue with the brake switches which will cause this problem if there is no brake lights replace the brake light switch
