If it stalls out when hot and then restarts after it cools down it could be one of two things. The ignition module shutting the spark down or the fuel pump shutting the fuel off. Next time it happens pull a plug wire and ground it out and have someone crank it to see if you have a nice blue spark. Be careful to not shock yourself.

Try cleaning the throttle body and the idle speed control valve, they get full of sludge and this causes stalling. Use a product called CRC Throttle valve cleaner on both parts, DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER IT WILL RUIN THE PARTS.

1999 chevy camaro starting problem? help

check that fuel is getting to engine, next, are you getting spark, are your plug wires in the right order, are they all good, you must keep plug wires from touching each other, is the cap & rotor ok, coil ok, fuses ok, do you have a fuel pump relay, if so, check fuse in relay. is the fuel filter new, did any codes get stored ECM, put drygas in fuel tank. are spark plug wires fully engaged onto plugs, don't concern your self with any smoke, let's get the engine started first, CHECK EVERYTHING MENTIONED ABOVE, including fuel filter, air filter should be new also, todays fuel w/ ethanol is garbage, for older cars. is the mass air flow sensor for this car ? aftermarkets are garbage. let me know how things work out, my knowledge is not cheap, but I will help you to avoid egg on your face, KEN

what's wrong with my car? You looking for a magical fix ? There are none ! Testing using electric test equipment an check the fuel pressure an flow with the proper tools , also hooking up an obd1 scan tool an checking sensor data . Are you familiar with obd1 ? Electronic fuel injection an all the sensors involved ? mass air flow , crankshaft postion , Cam position , MAP sensor , engine coolant temp. sensors , Ignition control module . Any one of these being bad could be the cause . Are you willing to replace all of these till you fix it . Do yourself a favor an take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop , because without testing all you'll get here is guessing without testing .

When you turn the ignition to on you should here the fuel pump run. If you aren't hearing it then it sure sounds like the pump. Assuming nothing has happened to the car to affect electrical connections. I don't think there is a fuse for the pump but worth checking also.

your fuel filter might be old and clogged. try replacing it. if it is and not enough fuel can get through, the engine will stall when you let more air in (step on the gas pedal).
