Car makes humming noise from rear at 25 mph and up. What could this be from?

This sounds as if you have a wheel bearing that is going bad. Something that should be addressed as soon as possible. Your footnote indicates that the sound goes away when you turn right. What is happening is you are transferring the weight of the car to the left side of the car when turning right, thus relieving pressure on the right side wheel bearings. This is what is making the sound dissipate. This of course would have to same result if the bad bearing was on the opposing side and you turned left.

A method to double check this is to park your car on a level surface and chock your front wheels, as you have stated you can here the sound in the rear. Using a jack and jack stands lift the rear of the vehicle high enough so that the rear tires are off the ground. You want to make sure that the car is on a level surface and that the front wheels are chocked from rolling either forward or backward. You want to then put your vehicle in Neutral if it is a rear wheel drive and release the parking brake. If it is a front wheel drive leave the car in Park and release the parking brake.

Once you are sure that your vehicle is secure and stable, find a point on the shock tower or spring connected the wheel you are testing and place one hand on it. With your free hand, spin the wheel. You should feel no vibration if the bearing is good. Do the same test on the other side for comparison. Which ever of the two sides has apparent vibration, that is the side you will find the bad bearing.

Hope that helps. Be safe.

Does the Tata indica rear wheel bearing have a collapsable washer between the two bearings

Tata Indica LSi 1.4 RHD model. First time working on an Indian brand car. This one has rear brake linings or shoes as they are also known as. I used the method someone mentioned here to remive the hub after I couldnt get it out. But the other side I battled then realised I had a huge enough 3 legged pully puller which came in handy. As mentioned remove the wheel then the cap for the bearing followed by the 24mm nut and big flat locating washer. Then fit the wheel back on to the hub with the other parts removed and fit the 24mm nut on to the shaft but just the tip. Use the 3legged puller to tighten up against the nut which will then pull the wheel, drum and wheel bearing off the car. Simple as that. No need for pulling the wheel back and forth with force to remove it. You wont get it off if one bearing is sitting on tight. Cheers

Mazda mpv 2006 repack wheel bearing

There is a little difference between the front and rear. The days of packing wheel bearing is almost over. The front bearing you have to pull the hub and change to bearing. The rear wheel you have to change out the hub bearing and all. The front is a sealed bearing and not serviceable. Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.

I have a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. i noticed a little diff fluid coming from the right rear wheel. I changed the wheel seal and axle bearing and put it all back together and filled the rear diff with...

first swap to a front tyre to eliminate that issue

new bearing shouldn't be rumbling
to get the bearing square on and home
did you use a press to fit the bearing to the rear axle
or tube method ?

and did the seal kit have this nifty plastic seal fitter so axle didn;t rip the seal surface

How to change a rear wheel bearing on a 1994 toyota camry

The rear wheel bearing on a toyota camry is replaced by replacing the wheel bearing and hub as a unit. this is a design change as compare to older models with two piece wheel bearings. Scotch drive wheels. Remove rear wheel. Remove rear brake drum. (note: if emergency brakes are applied you will not be able to remove brake drum) Remove dust cap and hub retaining nut. Hub should slide off as unit. Replace hub with new unit. Installation is reverse of removal.
